Yes... capitalism sucks and when one thinks about it... yes... the rest of the world hates the US because rightly, wrongly, by accident or device 80% of the worlds wealth is concentrated in the USA. By the natural laws of balance/pressure... the USA is always going to be fighting a battle to keep it that way. This is the root cause of all this bullshit. The idealology, the 'my imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend' (islam, christianity, gods of all shapes and colours), is all smoke and mirrors...
Regardless of the moral issues etc attached... something will eventually give... either the USA will burst and all that high pressure/wealth will flow out into the vacuum/rest of the world or the ROTW will puncture its walls and drain it away anyways.
That or we find a better way to quantify and trade our resources. A pound of clay, a pound of rice and an hour of a man or womans work should all be worth the same the world over...
...there is no just and moral reason for anything else.
Why on earth should a Manhattan Lawyer earn $1200 an hour, while a man tilling a field in Bangladesh for the same time earns 0.02c if hes lucky ?
Overly simplistic ?
Education ? Intelligence ? Character ? Nationality/Ethnic background ? Are they reasons to deny a man as much bread/shelter as his fellows ?
While I sit here in front of a machine that I paid 2500 bucks for... and I use lots of energy and resources myself... I can't justify to justify it either. I'd like to know exactly what I AM entitled to.. if we divided the planets resoruces amongst every person on it.
One thing remains.. the USA sure as hell cannot justify its selfish and greedy position. Yeah it's worked hard to concentrate all that wealth and power within its borders...I'm sure Scrooge McDuck worked hard too...
The Pres' is just a figurehead for a corrupted regime and his cronies the HSS, just more Nightwatch lackeys.

and just for the record, the president of the US can do a great many things without the approval of congress, or did we forget the whole iraqi war thingy? oh oh, that's right, that doesn't count or something huh?? The war powers act (still in effect) gives the president sole authority over MANY things.. there are also presidential proclaimations and what not, not to mention his political "clout" to swing things his way. am i making my point?
as for your last sentance, well i really don't exactly know what it says, could u re-write that please?
Ah yes padawan Lets not forget who is the college student with a B.A. in political science and starting next fall work on an M.A in political science and thusly higher on the "more qualified scale"
The war powers act grants the president 90 days of military action before he is REQUIRED to go to congress, however at any time during those 90 congress CAN step in and stop him, through eliminating funding, and such things, actualy people seem to forget that while officers are commanded by the president they recieve their commsions FROM congress. If congress deemed it necessary, tomorrow they could strip EVERY SINGLE MILITARY OFFICER OF THEIR RANK WITH ONE BILL!
and instead of presidential proclimations its what are called "Executive Orders" which are binding directives on the various beurocratic arms of government but only have roughly half force of law really, the tell the beurocacies how to do their job, which impacts people, but they can not be directly counter to any laws which congress has passed.
Lastly Iraq I & II did have congressional approval, frankly comparing their texts with other declerations of war, you would notice they damn well read the same in content.
The clout a president has is limited to how popular he is, if congress thinks their position is better served by defying him, they will, shit look at bush 1 administration on how his agenda was crunched up.
And lastly I have no problem fingerprinting foreigners, they are GUESTS in this country and they should understand there are rules to coming here.
And why yes I do come from the truly "old school" notion of republicanism where the laws I live by are governed by MEMBERS of the community NOT OUTSIDERS.
Frankly you have to analyze where human rights come from, unless you accept a teleological (IE religious) frame work human rights dont exist
(dont get me started on being inherent to humanity, I study political philosophy I know the arguments, if your arguing humans by nature have rights, show me why the would have more rights then say a semi sentient creature, all the arguments are flawed and come down to what ammounts to a religious belief in some sort of property that you cant define, cant point at, and cant prove exists, sounds just like "god" to me, now if you make a teleogical argument Im willing to cut some slack)
Without human rights by nature you come down to granted rights formed by communities, and are formed via modus vivendi within the community.

Asking for positive ID is hardly treating people like criminals. They are not being detained, handcuffed, or followed without good cause. Since you are in a public area in the airport terminal you don't have the level of privacy you have in your home. I can take photos of anyone I want or lift fingerprints off of glassware etc if it is from a public place. You have a CHOICE to not be there. The lack of public privacy issue is very much the same that came up when Scandinavian nations and the United Kingdom installed Police Cameras to watch the movement of their citizens. Once again I remind you that this new system will resolve much of the problem of mistaken identity due to similar name spelling between good folk and terrorists and criminals. That way innocents will not be treated like criminals. It also solves the problem of forged documents. It does not allow in country tracking. You also seem to have ignored the fact that many citizens of friendly nations don't have to go through the process.
Where is the outrage over France banning free expression in public places? They have banned everything from Muslim headscarves to symbols for atheism. Where was the topic on that? This is all just USA bashing.

Always be aware of the man who uses statistics in this way. You said - "when compared to [countries] population" In my mind a life lost is a life lost, is a person dead, is a mother, or father, or daughter, or son, DEAD. Shouldn't you value life a little more? Shouldn't you want to do everything to protect the right to life? What if the system stops a group planning a dirty, biological, or chemical bomb attack? That could save untold numbers of lives.

Do you know how many people have died in central America because US has given weapons to different groups?
Do you know how many people have died at the hands of warlords and drugs in Central America?

And your country doesn't obey Kyoto's treaty for decreasing pollution causing greenhouse effect.?
We never signed the treaty. We would rather have our economy go forward and invest in long-term solutions like fusion and fuel cell technology rather than short term "Band-Aids" that cause harm to the economy and slow technological development. The US economy works on the idea of rewards not punishment. This is an old trick to try and change the subject - while better than most, Finland is not innocent when it comes to ecological concerns. What about the fishing, whaling, and forestry industry in Finland raping the land and sea for decades?

So others should follow your ideology (about "allmighty" capitalism and money controlling everything) when your country doesn't care about international laws and treaties.
WAY of topic!!! And from your reply to the Nuclear power comment - it seems Finland has its own problems. Perhaps you should focus more on your own nation and try and change things there. That is your choice. AND THAT is what capitalism and democracy is all about. A CHOICE - do I want to buy this product or something else. A CHOICE - do I want to elect this person or someone else. A CHOICE - does this business limit packaging and limit its damage to the environment? A CHOICE - do I want to visit the US given the new security.
Any other system starts to limit the choices and freedoms of people.

First off, alot of politicians are scum, not just republicans.
Second, I'm not a republican, democrat, or member of any other political party. That said your statement is pretty damn foolish. Inside I always laugh when people get so worked up about such transient bullshit as politics. 50 years from now no one is gonna give two shits about the merits or faults of the current political parties. This whole "I'M A STAUNCH REPUBLICAN" or "I'M A STAUNCH DEMOCRAT" nonsense is ridiculous. Debate the issues, not some bullshit idealogy. Think. Don't profess the party line like one of those dumb cattle screaming their voices out at some fundraising rally for the benefit of some jackass who's more likely than not in it for himself.

the definition for bigot is as follows " a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices"
Actually I like the cambridge dictionary definition better
"a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong"
And in its common usage your heavy implications of the fact that you hate all republicans would make you discriminatory in some fashion against a certain catagory of individual.
as for republicans doing shit to ruin your life, Im a republican, I havent done anything to ruin your life, that I know of, unless existing is a crime, although Im begining to like the idea of runing your life, but I like all humans have petty instincts that I try to stay above.
as for arrogant, yeah I am, but thats just because I actually AM better..
(watches as croxis, Sanfam, Curz and RC die of laughter)
Oh and if you want to reject my claims about the political structure of the US and my position on the fact that the presidents strength is relative to popularity (as opposed to a true insitutional strength) and debate the issue on facts, please do! otherwise, STFU!
Logicsequence - as far as i can see Tyvar and A2957 have shown a better argument. If you want to convince people your right, you cant do that by saying you dont want to play some mysterious game. State your arguements, refute what they say, and maybe you might change their mind. But your arguement already puts you four steps behind and doesnt change anyones mind.
and PS dont hate me because i believe in something different. We all live our lives and therefore different. Because i could always point out the numerous taxes and regulations that forced my dad to close the family garbage business a few years back (1997). But i wont.
As much as I find the complete and utter *lack* of any case on your side highly amusing, please stop reading every single post, every debate, as a personal attack. There is nothing of the sort going on. They are not trying to destroy you or your reputation by making their point, so why assault them with nasty words?

If you spread the US defence budget out over the year... the US spends :
THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS AN HOUR...
And you think the terabytes of prOn out there is obscene....

STOW IT WISE GUY!
oh how soon you forget young padwon... :) let us not forget who is the high school student with no political experience... and who (me) is the college student with a minor in political science... :) on the "more qualified scale" that does place me SLIGHTLY higher than u.
and just for the record, the president of the US can do a great many things without the approval of congress, or did we forget the whole iraqi war thingy? oh oh, that's right, that doesn't count or something huh??
Without human rights by nature you come down to granted rights formed by communities, and are formed via modus vivendi within the community.
let me clairify, by minor i mean the following: i have a major in computer science and a minor in political science... that's over 30 hours credit in political science. that's why i'm not even going to address your points because it's pointless to argue with you, you're operating with too limited a knowledge base, and i am in no mood to start this "i'm right, no i'm right, no me, etc...". so...
whateva :)
P.S.
it's hard to take your statements seriously with so many spelling mistakes... i mean a few, yea everyone makes them, but come on! i sent a list to u in a PM so u can... learn from your mistakes :)
you are an ass you know that?
oh my god, 30 credit hours in political science! w00t your the expert
*snorts*
-Tyvar- who just happents to be sitting on 72 Poli sci credits with 28 alone in at the 400 level.
Stop waving around your quals jackass,
For the record that kind of thing pisses me off, because if you gotta do it your already frickin loosing, and then some bastard who has even better quals jumps out of the bushes and rubs your nose in it..
One of my best profs put it "if you hide from a question behind your degree, odds are your wrong"
as for SB.. You know, I just realized why the hell we disagree on most everything, its when I realized I believe in a certain level of biological determinism, man kind is actually hardwired to suck in my opinon, its not we need policies to solve our social problems, because any implimentation of those policies will be flawed by our intrinsic corrupt in selfish nature.. no we need to evolve past them.. we need to be energy beings damnit! Vorlondom!
So that gives you the right to treat them as criminals until proven otherwise?

And little statistics: Estonia lost more citizens in the disaster of m/s Estonia than US when compared to coutries population.
And did they start making safety inspections to every ship made in Germany?

Any other system starts to limit the choices and freedoms of people.
who crawled up your ass?
as I said below you were acting like an ass towards A# by throwing around your classes, and in rankled me, especialy since by and large he was essentialy right. So I figured a little humility could do you some good and I came down on you.

i'm always an ass to A# i don't like him, nor do i like most republican scum. and he's not essentially right, he's essentially wrong.
AND DON'T YOU DARE TO PRESUME TO TELL ME WHAT WILL DO ME GOOD AND NOT.
Strike that, your a biggoted, hateful, foolish, arrogant and ignorant ass.
look up the word biggot, u're addressing the wrong person with it. and i'm only hateful towards republicans, they've done enough shit to ruin my life and those i care about, so i have a right to. arrogant?? look who's talking, ignorant? i think not. foolish? fortune favors the foolish. fed up with the petty bickering? YOU BET.
nor do i like most republican scum.

Oh and if you want to reject my claims about the political structure of the US and my position on the fact that the presidents strength is relative to popularity (as opposed to a true insitutional strength) and debate the issue on facts, please do! otherwise, STFU!
and PS dont hate me because i believe in something different.
Grow up or shut up. You've been warned.
Do you know how many people have died at the hands of warlords and drugs in Central America?
Again: Your country (/part of it's goverment and institutions) have given support and weapons to various groups in that area.
And the country where druglords and other various groups are fighting is Colombia, which is part of south America.

ROTFLOL:D
Whaling... in Finland?!!!
If you didn't know, about 70% of Finland's land area is covered by forrest!
(and those big plain areas in winter aren't logged areas, they are lakes)
So your knowledge about geography doesn't convince me!
Could we get a little script to process that like irc does?
