This is what every country should do.
The travel data is supposed to be securely stored and made available only to authorized officials on a need-to-know basis.
And that's really something that I don't buy, especially when most of government is corrupted and on giant corporations' leash.
Circle has closed. United States has become opposite what it was when it was found.
When you become obsessed with the enemy, you become the enemy!
In Brazil, meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry started fingerprinting and photographing arriving Americans last week in retaliation. U.S. citizens waited for hours Monday to be photographed and fingerprinted at Rio's international airport.
This is what every country should do.

Couldn't agree more.
clark......nightwatch.........refresh my memory, are we talking about a b5 episode here? or US politics?
Well, what's the difference?

Yes, they should do what we are doing, only in a laughably inept and incompetant way solely for the sake of being assholes.
JMS predicts the future in more ways than one, you know. ;)
Or he just copied things from the past.
Those things happens again and again because it seems that "normal" persons doesn't learn anything from history.
that's why we need to give BUSH the boot! and get a good man like howard dean, or wesley clark into office.
learn a little about how are political system works before you make statements like that.
Bush can't do jack shit without the approval of both the house and senate.
those two groups do whatever they feel like unless their constituancy TELLS them what to. if We do, the special interest groups DO.

Yep, every country should be as concerned about terrorism. :)
Those groups shouldn't blame the people fingerprinting them, but the people who made this kind of precaution necassary.

Yeah, I know.
Wheel turns, doesn't it?
But think about what's the reason why so many of these terrorists are targeting US and it's allies.

I'm not really taking any side, just making for a good argument. :)
Though I am an American...

oh how soon you forget young padwon... :) let us not forget who is the high school student with no political experience... and who (me) is the college student with a minor in political science... :) on the "more qualified scale" that does place me SLIGHTLY higher than u.
and just for the record, the president of the US can do a great many things without the approval of congress, or did we forget the whole iraqi war thingy? oh oh, that's right, that doesn't count or something huh?? The war powers act (still in effect) gives the president sole authority over MANY things.. there are also presidential proclaimations and what not, not to mention his political "clout" to swing things his way. am i making my point?
as for your last sentance, well i really don't exactly know what it says, could u re-write that please?
Clark = Scorched Earth
(and also many other ways, especially because he gets lobbying support from oil industri)

You can't just blame one group of people. Following your reasoning, you should also blame those responsible for creating an environment where terrorists thrive, as well as those who are taking advantage of the situation to get these procedures and other infringements on people's freedom in place in the name of that "freedom".

Mmm, but if you don't draw the line somewhere, the endless cycle fo blame will drive you insane, and you'll find yourself embracing the Nihil as you dive from a 20th-story window. :)
The way I see, the person who did the most physical damage should be most responsible, and I think fingerprinting is an acceptable answer to having the symbol of our economic prosperity taken down (along with thousands of lives) by planes.

Physical damage tends to be less far reaching than societal damage.
What about the fact that this resolves much of the problem of mistaken identity due to similar name spelling between good folk and terrorists and criminals? It also solves the problem of forged documents.
Anyway, I recall that on B5 long before the rise of night watch there was an identicard - and it had more than just fingerprint information and images.
It's just a shame that rather than using an open mind and considering a moderate view almost all the sides on this one are polar. Have you considered that EVERY media in EVERY nation has an agenda?
See it's easy to get silly like you have - I can do it too: They need to give President Tarja Halonen and Prime Minister Matti VanHanen the boot! Did you know that 30% of Finland's power is Nuclear - Way to irradiate the planet with radioactive waste! Must be the nuclear lobby in Finland getting rich again.
I'm not happy with all of the policies going on via government and business - but as my favorite Libertarian says "Give me a break."

Anyway, I'm afriad to goto the US. becuase they mite think i'm a terrorist and send me off to Syria because i'm half part east indian.

Ahem, I'm 19, and certainly NOT in highschool. I am a college student as well, and by minoring do you mean you needed a minor and took a single Political Science class? I too have taken classes in political science, from a very well knowledge teacher on the subject. I knew a fair amount of how things work before hand, and have a pretty firm grip on it now.
and just for the record, the president of the US can do a great many things without the approval of congress, or did we forget the whole iraqi war thingy?
He took it before congress, and they DID aproove it. Yes, the president can declair war, or attack another nation. however, if he does so without congress's approval, they can cut funding to the military.
oh oh, that's right, that doesn't count or something huh??
Of course it doesn't, seeing as how to got congress's aproval. which I might add, Clinton did not do the two times he used the military.
The war powers act (still in effect) gives the president sole authority over MANY things..
The war powers act was initiated for one main reason:
Airplains - the ability to launch an attack overseas quickly, before congress could convien and retaliate.
Of course it is still in effect, and by many things you mean that it allows the president to quickly react to a threat, then yes...many things. Of course it can also be abused, just look at Nixon's presidency. But your insinuating that Bush has abused this act, when indeed, he has not.
there are also presidential proclaimations and what not, not to mention his political "clout" to swing things his way.
Yes, such a thing as political "clout" does exist, and yes, 75% of legislature proposed by the president does get passed. But think for a moment here. Bill goes to senate, goes to a senate standing, then sub commitee. Sub-commitee holds hearings, votes. If passed goes to the full standing commitee, another vote. Goes to full senate, another vote. Goes to House standing, then sub-commitee. subcomitee holds hearings, votes. standing comitee, another vote. House Rules comitee, another place it can be killed. Full senate, another vote. If the bill was change at any point, a joint conference comitee has to be held and agree on the bill. THEN the president can sign off on it.
For a bill to pass, it has to stand up to each and every voting process, and while there is clout, the president would have to work mighty hard to push it through each and every step here.

am i making my point?
Am I making MINE?
as for your last sentance, well i really don't exactly know what it says, could u re-write that please?
sure. OK. I just described what a bill has to endure to pass. Now, how they vote depends on three things:
a: How they feel on it
b: how the special interest groups whiegh in
c: how their constituency (ala voters in their district/state) tell them THEY feel.
face it, they are human, so how they feel can be changed by how much they recive in PAC contributions from special interest groups. if the constituency is quiet, then they will be much more influenced by the special interest group. In this case a good bet is boeing and lockheed martin. What I was saying is, if the constituency is quiet, then the special interest groups have all the power. That clear it up for ya? :)
Now to all you americans:)
Thank you for showing how correct I was in my point about the need to be moderate and open-minded. As a person who lost many family members to the hands of the SS I’m insulted. I could respond further to those posters, but I think you too realize it is just extremist rhetoric. Please put together a well considered mature thought and I’ll respond in the future.

[Edit] I deleted a comment about more Canadian Mad Cows crossing the border into the US because I realized it was just stooping to more of the same sophomoric name calling and not respectful.[Edit]
Please – show us that you respect all of us enough to check you spelling.
