If you don't have a Seagate drive, perhaps your manufacturer has his own set of tools and/or workarounds.
What size barrier?
ATA hard drives larger than 137GB need a controller that is compatible with 48-bit LBA addressing (which is what allows the OS to see the entire hard drive). Since there are no hard drives offered in capacities between 120GB and 160GB we believe that the barrier has been set at 120GB.
What happens if I put a large drive into a non-compatible machine?
The system will recognize the hard drive, but only 137GB of it...and you'll only be able to format that much.
Hey Messiah
Try partitioning your hard drive into 120 Gig logical drives.

This may help.
