mIRC Question

Your username is invalid.
Connect with your real username, in lowercase.
If your mail address were [email]foo@bar.com[/email], your username would be foo.

I get that when I try and log on... what? Username? IRC? Why did I stop using Trillian??

    lol, I never gave a username, never had to. I'm assuming this is some retarded mIRC thing, because IRC doesn't require a 'username'... you need a PC, an internet connection, and a nickname.

    Nonono! lol, I'm not sure what message I was trying to convey with that... my point was that the term username is generally used for a program/website that requires a password, which isn't really true but is generally the case. Anyways, my problem was, as usual, caused by simple absentmindedness. :D I used Trillian Pro for a brief while, until my sister, while somehow getting on my computer--despite the fact that it's always occupied by me, passworded, or off--managed to screw it up. How one can render a program unusable merely by creating an account on it is beyond me, but she also once deleted IE from the PC without leaving the desktop, which is a story in itself. Anyways... I've been using the Basic version of Trillian for a long while now, and just got Pro working again... completely unawares that Trillian was auto-connecting to IRC with my nickname. Hijinks ensue, guy gets program, antagonistic sister falls into the alligator pit, the they all live happily ever after.

    I may never top the Speaker Incident, wherein I went a week without sound because my speakers were unplugged, but I'll be damned if I don't try. :)

    Here's a wild idea....how bout going into your BIOS and setting a damn password, as well as for your windows account so your sister can't fuck anything up. If she starts bitching, give her a GUEST account. She can't do shit to it without your permission. :D

    Windows is passworded and my screensaver is set to 1 minute, so she rarely gets on. :)

    Since when? Username can be used anywhere where you must provide an identity string to use a system, IRC included.

    And besides - if you register your username on IRC then you need a password to use it :) - so it is a username even under your definition, Exile.

    Let me also guess you are not using a WinNT/2k/XP system? Becuase if you were she would be unable to create her own account :p
