  Well, one of the men that served in the Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam (who was head of security for one of the companies in the Towers) is reported to have saved thousands of lives (all but 6 others got out from his company, out of . I would imagine that the fire drills saved quite a few lives. I dont really have anything off the top of my head to support it, but that is my belief.

  If you can think of anything anyone could've actually learned that they wouldn't have known if not for the fire drills that had a significant impact on their survival, let me know.

  I believe that the fire drills had the effect of increasing reaction times as well as inacting a plan for reaction to a disaster (although I doubt anyone invisioned 9-11). So, still no hard facts, but might help...

  I heard about a fellow on the upper floors who ignored the alarms after the first plane hit because he figured it was another drill. When he finally realized something was really wrong and began to go downstairs, the second plane hit and cut off his escape route, so he went back to his office and called his wife, talking to her until the building fell.

  Well, I think he was pretty old, and he was probably at the opposit end of the building, so there was likey just a bit of shaking he might not have noticed. Oh, and all the panic he was ignoring.
