• Phear the cows that fly amongst us!
• You have no chance to survive make your time.
• There's a really big overlap between what you send to a graphics card and what you send to a physics card. It could greatly benefit from shared memory for geometry and integration with the materials system. Right now you have to send that i…
• We only just got it up there.
• Here's a link to a news report (courtesy of ye olde Slashdot) about the company from the letter (BayTSP).
• Ugh, I can't stand using game pads for first person shooters. They're so... imprecise. Hint: I elaborated a lot on this for those who are interested. If you don't want to read all this, read the next paragraph and the last paragraph to get the…
•
Originally posted by Striker Wasn't my idea. Blame it on Vertigo. :)
Oh yes. Of course. Because it wasn't your idea, just your agreement and action, clearly I should blame it on Vertigo. ;-)

• Striker added a pretty screwed up custom title and image a month ago. I didn't have the appropriate forum powers to change it, but I can still run SQL queries in circles around him. ;) Although Biggles did offer to fix it for me, I'd already don…

• It'll speed up after the massive amounts of data stop chugging over at full blast.

• I set it up last night. It should be working. The same goes for the IFH forums and other Perl nastiness, if it doesn't use DBD::mysql. That's still pending for a bit longer.
• Time on computers is often measured in seconds from a particular point in time. These "old" users probably just have null join dates (supposedly joined at 0 seconds). The UNIX epoch is 1970 GMT, but back that time zone up to the U.S., and it's 1969.
• Just to dispel some myths, it didn't crash and the only measurement I ever made was about 120 simultaneous streams from firstones.com. I'm not sure where the 400 figure came from. ;) In any case, it was still enough to suck up a good deal of the ban…
• The first waves have now completed downloading. There's ample bandwidth for anyone interested.
• With all due respect, Cmdr Dre, so does everyone else. I don't know if it's occurred to you, but there are hundreds of other people on broadband trying to get that file from this single point. A large and popular file will quickly overwhelm any conn…
• Greetings! Chase hasn't replied to this topic yet, so I'll give you the rundown. RadiusCo does plan to offer dedicated hosting, but it's months away from becoming a reality. If you end up getting a sour deal with someone, drop us a line (info@rad…
• I put the web server back up on the old machine so that people don't miss it too much... but that won't last, and any stuff posted (on the mods site) won't exist once the domain points to the new server.
•
Originally posted by Vertigo1: Yeah, but the problem with that is what if several mirrors are down? Most people would give up after one or two clicks and whine about "I can't download your stupid mod!". Its far more user friendly to ha…
•
Originally posted by Sanfam: It certainly is nice, but it wouldn't really reduce traffic too much. I pa for 30GB per month...so...
Well, a significant amount of monthly bandwidth is consumed by the mod downloads, most nota…
• 1,342 entries. Samk is still in the lead.
• As of this post, there are 953 entries. Looks like samk is in the lead.
•
Originally posted by Striker: BTW, I think you can login under irc.firstones.com too.
You can now, I just added it. Enjoy, everyone. Message me if you need any help.
• Fancy meeting you here, Grant. =)
• True, true. Network time servers allow a computer to synchronize its clock to a central source automatically. It actually originated on UNIX machines, I believe, but versions do exist for Windows. [This message has been edited by Defian…
• More importantly, the forum isn't even on our server. (What does it matter what OS we run?)
• Maybe you could try to find some mirrors for your files to reduce bandwidth consumption.
• File permissions weren't set to be executable, and the internal server directories hadn't been updated since whenever the site was with another host.
• Where else am I gonna get any glory? Besides, I was getting really annoyed at all of those error messages it generated. [This message has been edited by Defiant (edited 08-03-2001).]
• I'm the server admin.
• I fixed it for you.
