Babylon 5 MOD for StarShatter

Don't know if this would be the right place for this or not but here goes:

SSDv2 has just had an exclusive interview with DamoclesX, leader of the B5 : Hold the Line MOD; a sweet looking MOD for starShatter. So far it features planetary cap ships, custome missiles, 2 campagins, and alot of nice looking things blowing up!

    @Phaegey: You are the 2D artist, one of the mission writer and debugger of that mod, right? So can you tell me how long you've needed to create this .. from the idea to that what it's now?

    It took us about 30 days I belive

    I created all the models/textures from scratch, and the balancing.

    Pheagey did a ton of help teaching me the ins and outs of ss modding. and he did final tweaking on all the ships, added planet flight ability, the nav icons, explosion tweaking and general play testing.


    We actually worked pretty hard and consistantly on this one, but we also wanted to get it out asap, to give everybody a TINY taste of whats to come, honestly this beta is only a sliver of what the full release for the commercial mod of starshatter will bring, but I felt it was best to "put our money where our mouth was":)

    Btw, does anybody have a picture/information or anything else on the b5 galaxy, I meant planets, factions, where they go, who owns what, where the jump gates are, that sort of thing, I would REALLY hate to have to try to build something like that from watching the eps 100xs over.

    Even watching the episodes 100 times wouldn't help you there. jms never really needed that sort of info for his drama.

    As for hosting, we would love for the mods to be hosted, but it also wouldnt be really fair, my buddy has had over 10 gigs of downloads so far, in what? 3 - 4 days?

    we have a setup for a forum/main page for the b5 mod and starshatter in the works right now

    *huh* *ha* only [b]30 days[/b] ?!? I can't believe that except it was a full time job for you ... when I think, how long it takes for creating scenarios like you did, not to mention complex scenario with intro, triggers and scripted events with the flux engine ... maybe Starshatter is better to mod and doesn't need so much general accomodations like I-War2 needs?!?

    You can't make mods based on B5 commercial, but I think what he meant was the mod for the commercial game. Also, milod specifically developed starshatter to be very easy to mod.

    DamoclesX: I don't think that sort of bandwidth is a problem. Talk to Sanfam.

    But mainly I think Damocles is just some kind of twisted genius. He seems to crank out professional quality starship models every few minutes. I think aliens are beaming them directly into his brain or something like that. :alien:

    Regarding the B5 universe, there are some "canon" references available. One little-known ITF screenshot, for instance, showed a portion of the game map, more of which is barely visible on the back of my preview game box (mwahaha). This seems to be loosely based on the map included in Agents of Gaming's B5Wars rulebook, which you may still be able to find if you're lucky. One or two B5Wars expansions also had maps in them, which expanded upon the original. Finally, the new B5 RPG from Mongoose has a new map of known space as of 2257, which also appears to be based on the B5Wars map. You can find the map in the core rulebook, available now (I have mine), or you can download the first preview from Mongoose's [url="http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/babylon5/downloads.php"]web site[/url]; that includes the map in PDF format.

    There is one other source. A friend of mine has been trying to piece all these maps together into a series of megamaps showing the disposition of B5's powers by date. You can find his efforts [url="http://www.norlion.com/b5/main.html"]here[/url]. The map labelled "Fancy map" was, I believe, an early effort on the part of one of the mod teams; I've forgotten which. If any of you know, I'd be interested in hearing which it was.
  • most of the maps I have seen seem off, some dont have key systems, like proxima, others have it right next to earth, and so on

    I really dont know what I"m gonna do at this point, I"m not putting much thought into it cause I still have 15 days of model construction ahead of me(I have 15 models left to build for the ships/fighters, 1 a day)
    once I get to galaxy construction they I"ll see what we can do, hopefully I"ll get some help on that heheh
