it's like "Take a pile of real movies, and mix the plots together. If the movie is good, throw it out, make a new one. If it makes any one of the board members want to claw their eyes out, it's a winner."
Oh yeah, and with the attrocity that the Speed Channel has become, I'm down to Comedy Central for good TV.
And even that is letting me down now.
[vent]*inhale*
Why the fuck did Fox Sports have to come along and "Liberate" Speedvision from any and all forms of decent racing, and add to the lineup twice as many infomercials, slash re-airs, and generally stop playing good races? What do we have here? The fucking 24/7 NASCAR Channel. "Look at me and my sponsors! I'm turning in one giant circle at 200 miles per hour! Whoop-de-do! Maybe I'll Spin out in Crash!"
What the hell happened to the channel that, only two years ago, Looked *down* upon NASCAR and ensured a fair balance of all styles of racing? To get my fix for truck racing, I now have to wait until Motorsports Mundial, a 20-minute magazine show, airs once a week to give me some updates on what used to be two to three hour programs.
And what of the absolutely incredible BTCC (British Touring Car Championships) and Dutch Touring Championships? And what of the Australian V8 Supercar races which used to provide so much entertainment.
All we have is NASCAR and Formula 1, and the latter has already become nothing more than a driver's sport. All of the cars are similar enough to make no one brand truly superior, with the select few drivers always taking the pole and checkered flags. Schumacher placed in the top-3 again? Wow, what a fucking shocker!
And what the hell has happened to the WRC coverage lately? I remember there being some truly engaging commentary, as well as some of the best editing of any motorsports show on the air. Now, this once great program has been reduced to a shred of its former self, with long, drawn outstretches with what appears to be *NASCAR* Announcers in place of the old Commentator?!
And what has happened to the absolutely *incredible* SCCA coverage they used to have only a year or two ago? What is so fucking wrong about showing some genuinely competitive races, with people driving pro-stock four-bangers around a course and pushing real cars to the limits? Too slow? Too many right turns? I for one found the work of the teams, manufacturers, and drivers to be absolutely incredible.
And lately, I have seen few to *no* airings of the Grand American championships. What happened to these incredible races, which were, at points, broadcast thrice weekly (re-runs *CAN* be good, damnit).
And look at this, instead of showing a *race* in the morning like they used to, there is now a 1-2 hour (don't know the specifics) gap from either 10 or 11 (Whenever the magazine shows end) to noon that is filled by an infomercial or four.
So much of this can be altered to fit any other network that I once loved...
They're all going down the drain at light-speed, and nothing is filling the gap. I'm left with this intense desire for quality programming. I can't see these races myself, and there's no chance in hell i'm going to drive to ohio every few weekends.
I'd almost be happy to see the speed channel cancelled before it slips even lower. I'd end up paying $12 less per-month for the cable service at college to cover my false hopes of future satisfaction.

Buffy is over, Farscape is over, the X-Files finished here about 2 months ago, SG1 is off until next year...
Worf
You sure you didn't hack Comedy Central instead?

You're having fun, arn't you? :D
I can't remember the last time I actually watched TV. The last tv thing I watched was B5 season 2 (coincidentally, I watched it about 30 minutes ago). Before that, it was downloaded Jeremiah. Before that, why I beleive it was B5 season 1. And before that... I think it was about a year ago when Quantum Leap was being replayed (naturally, they stopped about halfway through so I didn't get to see the end). There's just nothing on worth watching anymore. Hell, I didn't even see most of the last season of Voyager.
Oh, and just about anything on Comedy Central. Conan O'Brien is my hero, Jon Stewart is... um, my hero. As well. And I watched that show whose name I can't remember where they have a bunch of comedians talking about whatever, and it's name has the word 'tough' in it, I think. Anyways, it was pretty funny.
Pretty much hate everything else. I realized TV had hit a new low this week, when NBC announced the new reality show "Who is going to Marry my DAD."
"OMG, WTF!?!? WALLHACK!"
-R.
depending on who's onboard for that episode, it can vary from painfully bad to painfully good.
The SNL Reruns are also fun. Of course, Conan and the Daily show are the best, period. I just wished they showed better movies.
I mean, jeeze, I'll probably just end up using it for Star Trek reruns, the B5 telemovies (I'm just going to watch any episodes I've missed on DVD, cable be damned), and Whose Line is it Anyway? reruns. Not to mention reruns of all the shows I wanted to see but, by accedent of birth or fate, didn't, like Miami Vice. Ditto that for movies. And I always found the History Channel interesting when we visited reletives with cable.
Look, my excitement! I found it over by the desk! And I thought I had lost it forever!
Comedy central is pretty good now, Tough Crowd is great, i love that show.
Espn is great if only for Baseball tonight and allowing me to watch a couple yankee games a year down here in hicksville AKA North Carolina. (I live here too so shuddayaface)
News Channels are good(sorta)
History Channel is always fun.
FX has the Shield which is an Awesome Program.
Also i have TechTV as a basic Cable channel, which is so my favorite channel.
MTV is awesome, showing music videos like they play songs on the radio! well between 2 am and 5 am.
Sci Fi has Stargate SG1, and USA has Monk.
Theres good tv out there, you just really have to look for it.
Rogue's pick for shows to watch that are still airing.
24
Stargate
The Shield
Monk
Gilmore Girls
Keen Eddie (I really love this show, so BACK OFF!)
Sopranos
Baseball Tonight
Simpsons
70's Show
Theres others i just cant think of em all now. but theres not too many out there i know. but tv isn't as bad as you think.
"What kinda BULL will husband my COW?"
Basically, over 14 weeks of 1-hour episodes, and the obligitory 2-hour finale, viewers will select a bull to mate with a heffer.
Whaddaya think?

PS: Anyone planning on watching Bonzai on Fox? I'm mildly curios to watch the "old woman in electric wheelchair chicken"...oh god, I'm becoming one of ...THEM!
What a messed up but damned funny show!
I've not watched anything on SciFi since they decided not to pick up B5:LotR. Not planning to, either. Screw the bastards with a garden weasel.
the exile: The show you're thinking of is "Tough Crowd"
depending on who's onboard for that episode, it can vary from painfully bad to painfully good.
The SNL Reruns are also fun. Of course, Conan and the Daily show are the best, period. I just wished they showed better movies.
That's the one. Conan and Jon Stewart are the funniest people on TV, IMO... I wish the had had some kind of twisted lovechild that was me, so I could be their... wait, nevermind that.
I just watched the three first(?) episodes last night, and I just love the morbid, sick, twisted humour in it.
Though sometimes it's pretty gut-wrenching (IE: The Little girl, georgia's mother)...
