LogicSequence posted a thread with the same name at some point, but buried deep now so I thought I'd just as well post a new thread. As far as I can see, we need two things to increase the popularity of this mod:
1. More advertisement!
2. Regular updates that are fun, even if they are not big.
Number one is easy - just go out and post about buda5 at various scifi oriented boards. Number two takes more work, but that isn't too hard either. I can think of at least a dozen small scenarios I can create in very little time. I also have a modifiable mission similar to director war in beta stages. It might be a good idea to post beta versions of dirwar, my new mission and (if available) skirmish at the public forums at regular intervals.
It would also be beneficial if at least the public forum was part of the firstones main forums so people wouldn't have to register just to post to these small mod forums. However, this is something we can't do ourselves - its up to the firstones staff. (which isn't good, concidering they told me about a forum merge ages ago... )
Edit: typo.

Advertisement could be better with Logics new logo.
But IMHO the Buda5 page NEEDS an update ... the content isn't up to date, better I say there should be more infos for newcomers.
It's a pity that only a few of us have an ftp access. I doesn't quite understand why it's so difficult to add a new profile for Sanfam *brr* .

i second that! if i had FTP access i could update the site, revamp it, and not have to ask indie for an alternate FTP everytime i wanted to upload something... it's so... GRRRRR! i mean it CAN'T BE THAT FRICKIN HARD FOR SANFRAM TO ADD A FEW PEOPLE IN HUH!!??! I MEAN WERE TALKING 10 MINUTES HERE!
only other thing i can think of is to let someone else share their pass code amoungst others... ehhh..

I wrote him per ICQ and said Alpha, one of the FO crew, that he should write Sanfam, too. He did it and I'm hoping, the "FO-master" will act now.
So, I stop writing OT in this Mod Populary thread now.

Yeh... it really sucks. Not to mention they let the mods forums just die off instead of doing the merging like they said. These forums are just too small for people to bother registering.
In the future, I think we should move our public message board announcements & activity elsewhere. Perhaps Hard Light Productions? Or some B5 forum?

I don't think PS can have any official connetion to us due to copyright reasons. Unofficially they are quite fond of us. heh.
Hard Light Productions is worth concidering and they already have forums for I-War/EOC modding.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I did offer hosting a while back.
I do understand however that our transmissions from beyond the rim are rather weak and one must listen carefully to hear....

Zoog, yes! We could certainly find uses for this. I guess it has some bandwidth restrictions though? It would still be useful, especially for those with no ftp access to firstones. Perhaps also as a backup.

ps. There's some old logos of mine - in jpg and Photoshop formats - in this directory: http://mods.firstones.com/buda5/logos-etc/

Should be in your mailbox now. Perhaps you've noticed.
Anyways, regarding forums. Having our own forums wouldn't really help since people don't want to register to a small forums just to post in a few threads. A dedicated Buda5 board would be even smaller than mods.firstones. Thats why I think the public boards need to be part of a larger forum. The i-war forums at hard light prod seem quiet, but if there are still readers we could go there and conquer the place in the greater glory of Buda5!
Then all shall bow down and kiss my boots as I declare myself the supreme ruler... I mean, it would be pretty neat if we'd get more visitors.

Only the I-War Part of HLP is dead, in the other topics the members are still active. We could ask there to get a topic or at TGU, what Walkers of S957 mentioned. Btw, the last one have more members .

Hi guys. I was away for the weekend. Good to see these forums are keeping busy.
Regarding the login/passwords: Firstones still haven't given us new ones. So far we've kept 1 login/pwd per user. I gave Merciful's to Logic. There is still JohnCS's login, which is something that could be recycled since he won't be using it much (or is he? ) That is the only "spare" we have.
If we don't stick to 1 login/user rule then I guess we could spread that around and everyone who needs it would have access. However, I'm sure they gave us individual logins for a reason so I dunno...

You're welcome to my Firstone's ftp id - I never actually received it when the servers moved so I'm certainly not going to be using it!
Looks like maybe you have your ftp problems sorted, but I can offer about 200 meg of password protected space. My bandwidth is somewhat limited however so I can only let you use about 2 gig/month. Still would work fine for in-dev work then Indie could move to the firstones server for release.
Let me know and I'll try to pay closer attention here....
