Really dumb question about tv

You guys living in the US, I was wondering out of plain curiosity how many foreign channels you can watch and which channels more specifically? If there are fifty channels you don't need to mention them all :D

:)

  • hmmm with directv I have around 250 channels total and probably 4 or 5 are foreign(mexican).
  • I have extended cable and we get two spanish channels, but I think Univision is actually domestic, even though it's a spanish language channel. I think the other one might be too, but I don't know.
  • PBS (Public Broadcasting 'free' TV) does the BBC news every night in almost every city.

Also in many major metro areas there is a channel (56 in DC) that shows the news feeds from all over the world all day long. One hour will be German news from Germany, then it will be from Indian news from India, then Japanese news and so on all day long - on the weekends they show movies and sitcoms from other countries in the foreign language sometimes but not always with English subtitles.

We get the BBC news on PBS.

But I think the channel that shows foriegn news is exclusivly a DC thing.

We have about 6-7 Spanish language channels here but I think all are domestic.

the PBS thing, and three Mexican+ channels.
  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Right now, I can watch 340 US channels, two British channels, one Polish channel, hree Spanish-speaking channels, two Japanese channels, and apparently, two Russian channels.

So there is a good deal of variety here versus other places.

  • Thanks for replying, that was pretty interesting!

    Though Solitaire's didn't count - he's in Germany :p ;)

In Denmark I can see about 20 or more channels of European channels. That's about 2/3 of the channels I can get. If I pay for it I can get a lot more foreign channels but I don't think it's necessary though the bastards cut off SciFi Channel three days after I just signed up for it. Those bastards didn't even give me my money back

Ah, anyway, thanks for the beedfack! :) :)
