Logitech MX700

Coolest mouse ever. Wireless with a base station the doubles as a recharger, 8 buttons that you can customize, extremely fluid movement and accuracy, it moves like my corded mice do (I've also had an intellimouse explorer wirelss..the report rate on that thing is waaay too low for gaming), no "wake up" lag...all in all, a sweet mouse.

Why would you want 8 buttons on your mouse?

Thats why I wouldnt want to get a mouse like that. Too many buttons. All I need are the LC and RC buttons and a nice scroll wheel. Thats it.

2 thumb buttons I bind to jump/crouch in games, bascially, the buttons are nice for games..
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Are they easily bound?
• KeyanKeyan Ranger
Yeah, you just go to the game's control menu, get it to ask for the keypress you want, and press the proper button on the mouse..

heh

I'm happy with my Logitech dual optical.

has four button, LMB, RMB, MMB, and a fourth at the thumb.

works well in games. MMB is scoreboard, Thumb is Enter/exit or use.

I can't handle too many buttons. My big problem is that when I ahve them, I feel I must use them, and when I do not, I get all sad over nothing. :)

I'm happy with three. While an extra thumb button or two can be useful, I find they just get in the way more often than not.

Optical wirless stuff rulez! I bought the logitech Optical DT!! It included both wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse!

I love my wireless KB/Mouse combo. Even though they'll never leave the confines of my desk, It's nice to know I don't need cables. :)

Although the sampling rate is too low on my current wireless optical mouse to be very useful in gaming. I'm thinking of checking out a newer one when I can.

What's the range on those things?

And besides for the MX700, i think that all cordless mice are negatory.

I was able to get mine some 25 or 30 feet away with a line of site to the receiver with no problems. After that, things get a little flakey. I've found, though, that with my receiver's current position (taped to the bottom of a wood desk), putting the laptop directly on top of it results in the signal being pretty badly mangled at times.

I see no reason to get wireless stuff at the moment since I never move my mouse or keyboard away from my desk. :)

And I need wireless because I hate wires lying around. It would be really nice if someone could invent wireless power source!!

I can't test how far away my wirless mouse works, because my room is too small and if I go outside my room the wall gets in the way!

And because I live in Finland and don't know english too good I got to ask what negatory means! Couldn't find it in a dictionary!
• A2597A2597 Fanboy
insignifigant, in this case, next to useless.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Negatory = slangish way of saying negative.

The answer to that should be obvious.

For the same reason you'd want more buttons on ANYTHING.

I have a MS Intellimouse Explorer, and I use all 5 buttons on a regular basis.

By default, the two extra thumb buttons are programmed to act as "Forward" and "Back" keys (useful in IE and when navigating directories in Windows Explorer).

The extra buttons are also useful in many games. When playing Team Fortress 1.5, those extra buttons come in very handy. I use one of the buttons as the trigger for the voice communication function, and the other one is a macro that sends a "Roger that" via team chat.

I can see taking advantage of 3 more buttons on a mouse pretty easily, as long as the buttons are easy to get to, ergonomically speaking.

Yes! And it is a dream to use. I love the button that pops up a window displaying a list of all open windows. No more [Alt]-[Tab]!

The recharge time from being totally dead is about one hour. It also uses NiMH batteries which are not prone to the "memory" problems NiCad batteries have. Best. Mouse. Ever.

Same. I HAAATE input device wires. they drape all over everythign and jam up and all that. I really REALLY want a wireless kb/mouse combo, but the logitech one lags just a tad. My current wierless ballmouse does not, but it fucks up every now and then.

Plus, wiht a wireless keyboard, it's easy to put something in your lap.
