I have a question, Marc... Am I correct in assuming that show-quality models of most of the ships YOU GUYS created were designed(i.e., the ones that weren't copied from the show -- the Hyach ships, for example)?
And if that's the case, is there a chance we might be seeing some ItF-created ships in a future LotR episode, should the series become a reality?
Seeing as I have zero knowledge regarding the technically illegal transfer of models, I couldn't say. If they were given a bootlegged copy of our CD of models from Netter, then no, our models weren't stored on the same CD as far as I recall. If they got some kind of compilation, I suppose they might have gotten some of our new designs.

Perhaps. But what about the interior of the ship? It didnt seem "symetric" enough to be Minbari. It looked too alien. Too dark. And the bridge had seats. Though they could have been added for the Human Rangers.
I guess unless there is some official answer as to where the Liandra came from, this is all just speculation...........
[EDIT] Actually, I looked at the ship again and it does kinda look Minbari. [EDIT]

Well, we know nothing about the style of design they mentioned. Maybe part of that design was "assymetry".

I understand, Marc. Thanks for the info.
It's my understanding that they only retrieved a copy of their own work that was given to Sierra to use.
The only surviving Luke Mayrand stuff that I know of is an AVI I rendered and some still renders I have of the Abbai. I think we lost all those wonderful new ship designs permanently because of Sierra.
Which is very un-Minbari... to sleep horizontal is to tempt death if I remember Delenn correctly... maybe the Minbari contracted another race to design a ship using Minbari resources, and the Liandra was the end result... or maybe it was a branch of the worker caste that had a slightly different style to the mainstream Minbari designs... and with 20 years since she was built, some additions would have been made. But since all Rangers follow a code along the lines of Minbari tradition, the beds would be Minbari, or should be at least... strange one really.

The bed in MedBay was for recovery from surgery and injuruy. I'd imagine that the Minbari would make allowances for sleeping horizontally in that case--especially since blood flows better that way.
Yes and no... remember when Ivanova was seriously wounded, Marcus nearly had to beat the Minbari on the Whitestar into letting him put the bed flat just the way she liked it, as she hated it the other way.

I don't remember Marcus saying that, but you're probably right. But that was aboard a Minbari Cruiser.
The Liandra was a Ranger ship, and thus was outfitted to handle many species.
It seems that from what we've seen, only the Minbari sleep at an angle. Most other races seem to lie horizontally. So it's logical to outfit the ship with facilities that can accomodate most races, even if it means inconveniencing one race(the Minbari).

Yeah Marcus does say that alright 'I had them make the bed up nice and flat, just how she likes it' or something like that...
Maybe I basing my assumption on the first Whitestar that Sheridan commanded, that would surely have been fitted with Minbari beds to start, but as you point out, when other races joined the ranks of the Rangers, maybe the other Whitestars in the fleet got out fitted with flat beds. Since a Ranger needs to battle ready at all times, good rest would be required, therefore if everyone on board was complaining of bad backs, stiff necks, and bedsheet burn from slipping of those things, maybe it was decided to put 'proper' flat beds in. I figured someone would ask JMS about this sooner or later:
It wasn't at an angle because it isn't a bed for sleeping in. It's a medical
examining tube. Take a look...half of his body is inside the tube, there's a
scanner above him that runs the length of body inside the tube (it's what David
leans against in one of the scenes)...there are three such tubes in that room.
It's more like an iron lung in that sense (though clearly more advanced).
A person may fall asleep in one of the tubes, but it isn't a bed for sleeping.
You don't want to go upending patients who may be critically wounded; I can't
imagine who would try and apply a sleeping custom to a medical procedure
That's just common sense.

screw ya all i loved the film and saw nothing wrong with it. except maybe maybe that the weapons was a tad cheesy. i liked how hyperspace looked and the jumpgates looked less artifical now. so there!

Even if they do have flat beds for other species, Dulann is Minbari. Why would he be using a flat bed?

Maybe the beds weren't adjustable. Or maybe it allowed for the medics to more easily operate on him. Or maybe it helped his injuries to heal.

...and all about the models of b5 in netter, wb and sierra...really stupid .
many of that never used models could be used in other games/series etc...
or/and with the fan base of b5...they can make some cds with that models and sell them.
