    Even if it is true that they caught a suspect: Innocent until proven guilty. At least that's still true here in the USofA.

    The police haven't charged anyone with anything yet. They're not even saying they have someone in custody, which makes it sound like the person(s) brought in is/are free to leave when desired. Additionally, the police just sent a message to whoever's been contacting them. Whoever was apprehended earlier is not the sniper.
