As A2597 would have you believe, he started a thread where he screwed around with the HTML a bit, closing a few extra tables and so on. Others joined in. Eventually, the Zocalo died and had to be replaced with a new one.
Not to dispell any fun rumours or anything, but the actual cause as I remember it was when Drazi Guy forgot to delete the forum logs one day, resulting in the server running out of space. This meant that new threads could not be created and old ones couldn't be updated. Accounts dissapeared, forums died. The Zocalo died so much it was unrecoverable. So we started v2.0 and copied over the threads that had survived.

Funny to think that when the Zocalo first appeared, there was lots of argueing over whether or not we should have one at all. Alot of people thought the "off topic" stuff was a big deal. Now, more people post here than in the B5 forum.
Just think, if the people who wanted the zolcalo hadn't won through, there might not even have been a firstones now.
