I take it you're new, or at least haven't watched the boards all that closely.
Jump points in all examples except LotR are orange when a ship jumps into hyperspace, and blue when jumping back to realspace.
one more thing, whats the difference in these two http://www.visupoint.com/images/jump1.jpg http://www.visupoint.com/images/jump2.jpg

The difference between the two blue ones you are using for reference, is that the more ragged looking one is a newer type of effect used in A Call To Arms (AKA: ACTA).
In B5 related Hyperspace Jumps, Blue is used for exit, Orange is used for entry, and now White is used for both in Rangers.
Time will tell what occurs from this point on.
Actually I really like the ACTA versions, but the new white ones aren't bad either. Maybe they could colorize the new MAYA driven effects from here on out for entry/exit purposes.

As mentioned, jump points leaving space are redish while jump points into space are blueish. This is due to the red/blue shift of light because of the doppler effect. Something moving away from you will appear to be redder because the period of the waves relative to your point of reference appears to be larger than it actually is. When something comes towards you it appears to be more blue. This is only noticable at high speeds, for example the speeds that galaxies move apart from each other. We assume through speculation that because of the way jump points work in sucking stuff into them or pushing stuff out of them that they also cause this effect on light.
At least, that's the explanation we came up with a while ago.

Actualy the Rangers Jump points are red/blue but it's very subtle.
You can only see it at the center of the jumppoint, and even there it's hard to see.
If you've got a TV-In on your PC take a screenshot of an 'in' and an 'out' jumppoint and put them next to eache other. Then you can clearly see it.
I didn't notice it myself either, but I've seen the screenshots somewere on the net. Unfotunately I can't remember were it was...

That's a good quality screen capture as well - do you have more??

Hmmm. Am not liking those jump points. They look too gasey.

LightNZ: Sure I can make more screen-capures.
What do you want?
Biggles: I think they are not bad, but they need some work. Make tham a little bit less gasey and make the red/blue stonger and they'd be quite good.

I don't know why, but UBB boards always seem to have problems with pics.

I will quite happily admit that they look really cool, but I don't think that's what a jump point should look like. Jump points should be well defined cones of energy. I think that what we saw in ACTA was the best, with the B5 ones being a low-budget version.

That's not so easy. I've tried to get a good shot, but it's not realy possible. You have to see hyperspace animated. It's turbulent, moving with constantly shiftig patters and clouds of red glowing energy. It looks very hellish
I've made a picture, but it can't realy capure the feeling you get when you see it animated.

BTW: this allso applies to the jumpgates. Animated they are much better.
