X-Men First Class

Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
Good movie, good enough to let me forget all about X3 and Wolverine.

Now there's an X-Men trilogy worth watching.

Only things I did not like were Darwin, Banshee and Havok. And creepy baby Mystique. The teenage mystique wasnt quite as hot as adult mystique, but.. the more I saw of her jubblies, the more I was convinced, blue is still the colour for me.

But what makes the movie from okay to good, is Magneto.. or Michael Fassbender. Seriously, every scene that I remember after seeing it, were with him. I think he's the only one in the movie that has his own theme music?

Anyway. Worth seeing definitely.

I'm going to see it one night this week hopefully. Heard mostly good things about it so far

I know.. it's so weird. I was expecting something absolutely horrible after those previous X movies, but this one..

    Even the soundtrack is good.

Here's the song that plays during one of the best scenes in the movie. Trust me, you will notice it immedialitely. :)

Hell, I could see it again just for that scene alone..
  • One of the better soundtracks for sure.

Think this might be a contender for best one. I love the historical tie-in. My favorite scene was the cameo....won't spoil it for anyone but for those that have seen it know what I'm talking about.

I plan to watch it Tuesday. Probably only the 2d version though...saves me $8 :)

Our theater is $7 for normal tickets, $9 for 3d. I really enjoyed the movie. I have not read any of the comics so I don't know what the characters are supposed to be like. Quite enjoyable though.

I watched the trailer...I was with it until the SR-71 blackbird flying at sea level preforming high-g maneuvers.

When the last stars in this universe fizzle out and die, you will still have a boner for Mystique.
  • I may have to buy the soundtrack to this movie, I'm loving it more and more. God that guitar for Magneto's Theme......

...I've never really liked Soundtracks for films, especially for movies from the past 15 years or so. I think soundtracks peaked in the early 90's with movies like Last of the Mohicans, Lion King, T2, etc. But between this movie and Tron, I'm thinking there may be a quality revival here.

Just came back from seeing it. I have to agree, much better than X-Men 3 and Wolverine.

My cinema wasn't even showing it in 3D at all :D

My theater also didn't show in 3d, even though they ran an ad for the 3d version in a movie I saw a week ago :D

Pretty good movie, lot of backstory. I have to agree that the jet flying in circles at low level while everyone on the ground ignored it was rather odd. Would have been better to come in and hover or such, like they did later.

But....SR-71...high altitude mach 3 aircraft...flying at low level pulling high G maneuvers?! The SR-71 is a beautiful plane, I get why they wanted to use it...but utterly impossible to do what they are using it for.

And wait...are they inside it?! Ugh...I am sorry, I just can't get past that. It annoys me so much that I really don't think I can pay to see this movie. I may netflix it in 6 months. Maybe.

I'm not sure the Blackbird was designed for high-G maneuverers even at high altitude or relatively low speeds. Its standard defense against missiles was "speed up."

The blackbird at sea level would leak like a sieve... Anyway, My question is.. You are watching a movie, sci-fi, about MUTANTS, and your issue is that they break from reality with an SR-71???

    just sayin...
  • WORFWORF The Burninator
I got the impression the plane in the movie had a similar design to the SR-71 but was a bigger prototype.

I'll refer you to the alt text of this xkcd, as well...yes. I'm OK with Mutants, but an SR-71 pulling G's at sea level does ruin my suspension of disbelief:

Lol, just giving you a hard time

I'm not ok with half the mutants. It breaks my suspension of disbelief with the BLATANT VIOLATIONS OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY!.

it looks like an SR-71, but its not.

However, I do understand your hangup. There are movies I refuse to see because I can't suspend belief to watch something completely retarded. The movie Wanted comes to mind. No, you can't shoot around corners just because you flick your wrist!@!!

    Well, scratch that assault plan...

Actually, it's easy to shoot around corners. All you do is grab a high power laser and a mirror.
