Still haven't checked out this game... don't know if I should get this or the Witcher game... or something else.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
Haven't yet played the witcher, but if you like Western Fantasy RPGs, you can't go wrong with DA:O

I'm still torn between which game was better, Witcher or Dragon Age.

Both are excellent. I'm leaning a bit more towards dragon age, because the companions were exceptionally well done. But really...both are excellent, and I highly recommend both.

Between Witcher and Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2 is the better game.

Also, I havent player Witcher. Is it any good?

I never finished the original Mass Effect and I didn't get the sequel. But I saw walkthroughs of both games on Youtube. The ME games are great interactive movies but they are not my cup of tea when it comes to RPGs or FPS games. Besides ME made my gaming laptop look like a gameboy, a laptop that can run Crysis just fine, thank you very much.

I don't know, in this heat we are currently suffering through I don't really feel like playing much right now. I'm just trying to finish Sniper Elite which is ok, if not great, for what it tried to do.

Dragonage 2 was just announced. From the looks of things, they are going to be heavily changing the game, so now it will basically be Mass Effect with swords and magic.

Not sure how I feel about that, while I do prefer the Mass Effect games, it was nice that Dragonage was different.

bah, Dragonage was much much better than Mass Effect. (Although still haven't played through the 2nd one).

Everything about it was lightyears beyond Mass Effect IMHO. Can't even be compared.

I still haven't played it, but sicne we bought an X-Box for work, and someone donated a copy of the game to us, i may get to play finally.
• Yeah, I cringed when I read the game informer article. If they really throw the rpg elements out the window and turn this into mass dragon effect age it'll suck. Here's a link on the official forums about whats already known http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-2/Dragon-Age-2-General-Discussion/What-do-we-KNOW-so-far-3064634-1.html

I love both Mass Effect and Dragon Age and really looking forward to ME3 and DA2. But I'd also really like a multiplayer adventure/rpg game, kind of like Neverwinter Nights 2.

I just ordered the uncensored Platinum Edition of the Enhanced Edition and DRM-free Edition of The Witcher. I have to support that much dedication by a dev team which is something quite rare nowadays.

The Mass Effect games are awesome games, but they're pretty average as RPGs. By that, I mean that their RPG elements are simplified. Dragon Age, on the other hand, has very strong RPG elements.

Maybe i'll get to play it when the summer is over and i can take the Xbox home with me, i am pissed that a week after i bought my xbox, microsoft announced the new one with built in wireless... Bastards...

Such as blood splattering everywhere? The slightest puncture wound becomes an instant gore fest. Bodies are pressurized blood containers that are just waiting to esssplode!!!

It's got Kate Mulgrew in it and I don't like the Grey Warden membership ritual. If you are not fit or change your mind about joining, you die.

I guess it's time to play Titan Quest instead, it's been gathering dust for some time now.
• A2597A2597 Fanboy
it's worth noting that Dragon Age on PCs vs consoles is entirely different gameplay...

And if you stopped at the ritual, you haven't even started the game. LOL
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
At least the Grey Warden got slaughtered on the battlefield, he sure could have used those two that were killed by the dark spawn's blood and his sword. So there was some kind of justice, fool. :D

For a fantasy RPG it mirrors today's incompetence in upper management quite well. ;)
• WORFWORF The Burninator
I think you are missing the point of the Grey Wardens, there is a reason for that ritual, the blood makes them more effective than regular people against the Darkspawn.

But your ability to follow slightly less obvious plot elements mirrors Fox's ability to keep good tv shows running. ;)

• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I got the plot alright, the which-doesn't-kill-you-makes-you-stronger method of natural selection. Some of the characters in the story don't trust the Grey Warden either so I'm not the only one who questions their methods. I didn't appreciate the treasonous act by that general to exit the battlefield with the much needed reinforcements. Another fine example of upper management politics.

Well Worf, I'm so glad you are here to explain us all the finer points of everything. After all what's more important in life than fiction? :)

more firefly...

Quite frankly, I didn't know why Titan Quest failed to become a commercial success. I've put in a few hours into this Diablo-clone and while it might entertain a teenager it's not really something that is going to knock a veteran gamer out of his chair. I'm actually enjoying the battle mage skill set I've chosen but somehow the story has failed to draw me in. I guess unless something major happens TQ is just going to hold me over until I get the Witcher in the mail.
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Titan Quest is one of the games I could have lived without playing. Only reason I played it until the end was because of multiplayer coop.
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I think the lead designer of TQ blamed the commercial failure on piracy. I can see now that this is complete nonsense. The game is alright since it copied the game mechanics and story elements from the best, but that doesn't mean that you'll necessarily hit box office gold if you do that. How many classic reboots have fallen on their faces?

Alan Wake is another prime example of this arrogance. The game was ok, just not AAA ok.

• So, Dragon Age sold more on PC than both consoles combined figures, yet the PC is the one that gets shafted in DA2?

Thanks Bioware. Appreciate it.
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Meh, they can use whatever camera view imo as long as it works. I would like to see more multiplayer coop games.

Except that the texture work in parts of DA:O is REALLY bad. A few statues that you are next to in the cutscenes are embarrassing. You can tell the game has been in the works for ages. That and the weird clipping with parts of the armor and weapons.
