Am I in good shape?

I guess I am. I can do 120 push ups (okay.. 40+40+40, havent tried other combinations yet).. and some 200-300 situps and so on.

No access to gym so I guess thats commendable.

But! as the question goes.. Does it show anywhere? I've got a bunch of personality disorders (I reckon) that make me unable to see myself in a positive light. So as far as I am concerned, in that pic, my chest/breasts are weird, there's no signs of muscles and I'm kinda skinny. And you should see me from the front.. From that angle my hips are too wide and chunky weird and my chest reminds me of madonna from the 80s.

Sometimes I think why do I even bother trying working out..

Oh yea. I'm not just doing that type of exercise.. Some running too. I've ran home from work a few times, about 3 km, while my friends been driving a bicycle next to me. Results: streaming with sweat and somewhat out of breath with slight sharp pain in my chest. But still able to do that. Which is just weird.

You actually look pretty muscular. More than me... Not that I think that I'm out of shape.

Certainly not out of shape. If you want any substantial amount of muscle, you're going to have to do some heavy resistance training. If you want to lose the fat, your diet is the most important thing. You obviously have no problem with self discipline, in the sense that you can keep sticking to a routine, so if you were to have access to a gym with weights, you could achieve quite a lot already.

Body dysmorphia is fairly common. Most people want to look a certain way, and if you're too judgmental of yourself, you're never going to look into the mirror and see yourself the way you are. You're going to see yourself the way you don't want to be. I, for one, was always a skinny kid, and people around me took every chance to point it out to me. So even now at a healthy 185 pounds of mostly lean meat, I still see that same skinny kid in the mirror.

You look frakking awful mate! But no number of pushups will fix that! :p

    hehe.

I wish I saw myself as the skinny kid I used to be.. But usually I only see that guy who I was before I got into Krav Maga and actually started getting in shape..

The guy who ate mcdonalds family meals on his own in one go.

    Curiouser and curiouser..

I was doing pushups using my fists this morning, steadying myself with those. Didnt think I had it in me.

Then my friend teased/dared me to try it while using my fingers instead.. and I could do it. I did 20 and didnt feel tired yet..

How and when did that happen? :S

Not bad. Could do with tidying that hair up a bit. :P
  • Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
My hair is one thing I can not change.. I can beat it into submission by shaving myself bald, but after a while, it will grow back and take a life of its own. So I gave up on it long time ago.

Actually i'm less round than i was, not that It got too bad, but last time i saw my Doctor he said my BP was a bit high, so i went on a bit of a diet to help lower it, lost about 25 pounds and am trying to cut out as much salt as possible... so basically, No salt, No cholestoral, No fat. No taste...
  • croxiscroxis I am the walrus
The tricks isn't to cut it out completely, but just reduced amounts.

Dietary cholesterol and fat are needlessly demonized. It's processed carbohydrates that are the real evil.
  • StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I still say it's a matter of eating too much.

Its been found that partially hydronated fats are more resistant to being burned. The mechanism isn't known

    Yay, highly-processed corn syrup!

I was being kinda sarcastic, I'm just reducing the amounts to a more managable level, as for Sodium, until I started watching my levels, i had no idea how much fucking sodium is in EVERYTHING!
  • Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
I dont actually think much to what I eat. Or whats in it.

    So far so good.
  • 2 great sites:

Sparkpeople.com has a great utility that'll breakdown everything you eat at the end of the day and see where you're above or below recommended limits. It's pretty cool actually.

Nerdfitness.com is a pretty good site with some great exercise routines among other things. Pretty active community forum too.

I couldn't just sit there and watch the train wreck happen. Next thing you know someone's going to suggest a silly work-out machine for a very low low price of only a few payments. :D

No, you had to run ahead of it and plant the TNT before the collapsed bridge! :D

I know, I know, it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. No need to thank me. :D

After two months of basic exercises at home, I can now make my pecs dance. Now if I can learn to do the helicopter along with it, i'm set for life.

Starting to look something worth smiling about.

Ofcourse, havent done any exercise this week due to high blood pressure related problems.

And irish medical system sucks. Glad I managed to get away without paying a penny. I was prescribed antihistamines, paracetamol and medicine that's for an upset stomach for high blood pressure..
  • croxiscroxis I am the walrus
Fish oil and green tea have strong support for lowering blood pressure. Ginger root also has some support as well.
