That was pretty decent episode to be honest. Now just need to wait a damned week for another.. possibly longer because I will be in Ireland then.. :S

Have you seen the first episode with the Weeping Angels?
• Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
No.. :S
• WORFWORF The Burninator
You should, series 3 episode 10. It's called Blink.

Worf

That was an awesome episode! Very enjoyable! Can't wait for the next part :)

Im glad you told me to watch Blink before this one, I got a lot more out of it than I would have otherwise.

Incidentally, now we know why the Doctor had a gun in his hand from the teaser trailer. I think that is a forgiveable use of one even for the Doctor. I wonder if others share that view tho
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Told you it was a good idea :)

And I have no problem with The Doctor using a gun here. He wasn't trying to shoot anyone and had no other means of hitting the target from where he was.
• BUT HE WAS USING a GUN and ALL GUNS ARE INHERENTLY EVIL!
• WORFWORF The Burninator
I watched an episode from the old series earlier where The Doctor used a laser gun to blow up a lock on a crate.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
The way I saw it, he wasn't using a weapon, but rather a tool. It's an easy rationalization.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
I agree, though I bet there are some who dont see it that way heh
• We're talking about the person who destroyed ALL of the Time Lords and ALL of the Daleks in the last Time War. And people are getting their panties in a bunch at the idea of him using a gun to kill one person at a time? Let alone using one against an inanimate object?

Let's not forget the Season 2 Cybermen ep where he used a ring-like thing to deliver a beam of energy that fried a few dozen Cybermen. A gun by any other name...
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
While he did spend an undisclosed period of time mulling over the massive amount of destruction he directly caused, guns are just a matter of principle. He doesn't *want* to kill things, which is more or less their primary function. He will make things into weapons, but generally avoid purpose-built weapons. Thus the gun being used as a tool to reach the sphere. The sonic screwdriver death ray was a point of enormous contention among viewers, and I do believe we have debated this exact subject in a previous Who thread.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
and the gun beeing used in "The End of Time" to kill the timelord-connection-machine...
• I also just figured out how "Victory of the Daleks" could have been turned into "Defeat of the Daleks"

1. Daleks turn android into planet-sized bomb.
2. Doctor flies TARDIS to earth, picks up android.
3. Doctor flies TARDIS to Dalek ship, drops off android.
4. ???
5. PROFIT!!!
• Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
• At the very least he could have thrown the poor thing into space if his attempts to humanize it failed. Given the choice between one android with human memories and the whole of humanity, I can't ever see the Doctor choosing the former (unless it's a fembot with Rose's memories).

Assume it was one of those "disturbing the bomb will only set it off" situations.

There will be games!!

That was a completely unexpected turn of events once they got into the control room.

I'm wondering if the rest of the season will be The Doctor trying to find the cause of the crack and solve it.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
I'm hoping Amy starts wearing something more provocative to get in his pants :p
• wtf rory

brain dead simple fix to the end of the episode: Spoiler: throw the lizard who shot him in the crack. then she never existed to shoot him and rory is fine. hard to believe such a thing never occurred to either the Doctor or the hysterical amy.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
I suspect that [sp]when the Doctor finally encounters the origin of the crack, he'll be able to bring Rory back, and given that it will allow history to be re-written (like he mentioned I think in part 2 of the Angels episode) possibly even Gallifrey perhaps?[/sp]
• Oh of course. I fully expect him to recover from Spoiler: death. It's just mind-bogglingly stupid that they let such an opportunity for preventing it in the first place pass them by.

I take it you're perfectly calm when one of your good friends has just died and you have mere moments to escape before death?
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
I take it you're perfectly calm when one of your good friends has just died and you have mere moments to escape before death?
Mostly because it was in fact i who killed them, but yes.

Though it pains me for my first post to be about anything other than B5...

How come Amy could remember Dan Morfitt & the other Monks after they had gone but couldn't remember the spoilerific event in the recent episode?

Hello by the way!
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Because Steven Moffat didn't write the most recent episodes, so that probably wasn't something thought about properly.

Welcome to Firstones, the beers are in the fridge, the nuts are all over the place :)
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
My take on that: with the monks, they werent travelling with Amy and the Doctor, whereas in the recent spoilerific events they were all travelling together, thus the changes made to the timeline were happening inside their frame of reference, rather than outside it as happened before.

If that makes sense heh....

Oh, and welcome!
