    Tip for people who don't know: the two large regions of unmapped universe are (at least in part) caused because our own galaxy blocks our view. I find that fascinating, wondering if we'll ever be able to see what's in those regions.

    It's listed in the end credits. The movie is made from an actively maintained digital map of the known universe and its viewing software.

    I have played with software that visualized the large scale universe. I couldn't tell you the name of it but playing with it took my breath away just like this video.
