World of Warcraft

Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
Well.. another expansion on the horizon. Figured it's time to ask if anyone's playing it anymore here?

I'll be playing next two months atleast.. other than that, I've been known to drop and quit it for a year or more at a time..

My highest level character is level 50 warlock, Zurial.. Meet you if I meet you.. Xavius and alliance.

If you're horde, wave and dance with me? :)

• I'm still playing. My wife and I just created our own guild actually. If you are on the Gnomeragan server for the Hord send Knathrak (thats me) some mail if you are interested in joining.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. Yeah the new expansion looks pretty cool. Flying mounts in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdore finally, and they are also opening up Mount Hyjal, which I've wanted to go to ever since I started playing.

I quit a while ago now. In fact about the same time the last expansion came out. I have 3 level 70 horde characters somewhere. A Druid (with a mix of tier 4/5 Tanking and Healing gear), a Warlock with mostly tier 5 gear set up to be a shadowbolt cannon and a hunter with greens and blues.

Burned out on the game. Burned out on fantasy really.

Yeah, Ive been clean for half a year or a little more now. Got a couple of 80s, but Im not into the whole endgame thing, I just like to discover stuff and everything just became so boring in the end.

Plus I suck at pvp with my allies (pala and deathknight), my horde characters (shaman and druid) do a lot better, especially the shaman, but my main guild is ally, so that became boring too..

Currently, Im looking for a new addiction, been looking at Fallen Earth, but Im looking forward to Star Trek Online or Star Gate Worlds even more..

Looks like a Fallout 3 clone with MMO aspirations. So this could be fun. :D

Never played WoW and I still have quite a long backlog of games I want to check out.

If you have never played it, I can actually recommend it especially if you like other blizzard games. If anything at least try it. My problem is simply being burned out. Like Messiah says, exploring the world is actually really cool. Its the endgame content I hate.

Raiding turns an otherwise fun casual game into a job. A shitty, terrible job where you get penalized for being late, deal with stupid people screwing up the fights and angry angry people who don't win the loot they think they deserve.

Also, I gotta say, whatever idiot decided it was cool to create 15 minute multi-stage boss fights requiring more coordination than Olympic Gymnastics should be drug into the street, stabbed, shot, run over, dragged behind horses and pelted with rocks.
• See, I actually like the endgame stuff, but I don't let it become a job. Find a more laid back guild filled with peeps who like the endgame, but realize that WoW is not life, and the endgame stuff can be pretty fun.

May get geared up slower this way, but at least I never feel "Obligated" to be there at a certain day or time.

You can probably thank the Japanese for that. They've been doing that sort of thing since the first Final Fantasy game, if not earlier. I personally detest it. Making the end boss an absurdly hard endurance trial is a cop out replacement for inventive end-games that may have worked 25 years ago but doesn't really work now, in my opinion. At least in an MMO they have the excuse that it's a test of team-work...
• I liked the way that May Payne had boss fights. Or Bloodrayne. You had to find out how to beat it, but once that was done...good to go.

Then again, I NEVER raided in Wow. I'm a solo player. I'm ok with a group of 3-4 friends...but seriously. More than that gets annoying

So far I've stayed clear of MMO's, with the exception of Guild Wars. It was fun for a while and it never got really out of hand. Of course it sucked when players dropped out when the going got tough and we had to start over.

I don't have a problem talking to strangers. :D It's just that you don't know who you are dealing with on the internet. That adult you think you are chatting with might just be a snot-nosed teenager and the reason why he's better than you is that he had a lot more time to practice. :D

I did see some abundant use of punctuations marks mixed with colourful language!!!!!!! :D

And those you think are snot-nosed teenagers might be adult jerks. Some PvP I've done in Guild Wars was with jerks, and they were supposed to be 25 year or older. Never liked playing with them, rather played with people who could behave but maybe wasn't as good at the game.

Fallen Earth does look rather interesting actually. Even if some say its Fallout 3 ala MMO, I have no problem with that as Fallout 3 is easily one of my favourite games, and the MMO aspect would make for a very interesting game world. I think at the very least I'll give it a try

Im on Amunthul server with a 42 blood elf hunter, its a decent game, its come a long way in the years its been out. theres a lot to be said for continuous development, WoW has benefitted greatly from it.
• Unfortunatly I'm a po unemployed bastard, playing WoW on a friends private server. I never played on the real servers, but then again, when I had a job I never would pay a dime to a pay to play game. (It's free and I'm only up to level 30 on a fun server that has higher xp and drop rates)

I just bought Fallen Earth and installed the client. 4gb of files to download tho, which is about average I know, but it still makes me wish for an install disk ;)

I did as well, wasn't overly excited about it once I got in game...
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
I'm still playing WOW, although i have not had much time this summer, but once the winter comes around i'll be playing more, i'm looking forward to Cataclysm, which should change the WOW experience and make it new again for everyone.

I am VERY much looking forward to Star Wars The Old Republic, the few previews i've seen look like a lot of fun. i have high hopes for it. i'll prolly give up WOW for a bit when it comes out, then go back to WOW when Cataclysm comes out.

Oh yeah, and ive got characters are Llane, Daggerspine, Area 52 and Drenden

Wow way to sell it to me SpiritOne! Not in marketing are you? :p

Entil'Zha: indeed, The Old Republic is probably going to result in me failing my final year heh! I think there's going to be a few of us playing that, so we should try and get on the same server. Just think of the irony of being able to slay Worf in lightsaber combat :p
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
I tried Aion. The first 15 levels felt like WoW to me and WoW isn't my kind of game. Only mmo I know I look into is Guild Wars 2.
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
I'm with SpiritOne. For me it was the same with WoW. Started fun and then turned into a job. Not something I enjoyed coming home to in the evenings.

I do miss the online aspect though. Unfortunately my current work schedule means no gaming these days. Bit annoying as I have Rome Total War, Dawn of War and Company of Heroes sitting on my shelf... all unplayed.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
SD, when it comes out we most definately need to get on the same server.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
Absolutely! The only snag is that I'm away on placement when it is (supposed to) come out. I should be back at weekends, but I wont be back full time till the week before xmas :(

Damn I'm looking forward to not being a student any more! At least in the hospital I'll have reasonably consistent hours!
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Well who knows when it will finallhy come out anyway.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
Indeed. When was the last time one came out when it was originally supposed to?
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Reminds me of the line from the Portal song when you win "and we're out of beta, we're releasing on time"
