I havent looked, have they fixed fallout 3? Last time I loaded it up I was stuck in the building that has the guy who wanted to nuke megaton. I nuked megaton AND let the zombies into their building to kill them all. (I know, bastard) But I was stuck in the building because it keeps crashing.
Other question, what do the patches for Vampire the Masquerade give you? I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of that game.
Well, I reinstalled fallout 3 and applied the 1.6 patch. Im farther along than I thought. I was in a police HQ where I just rescued some guy. I got out of the building, and then it froze up. I guess thats better?
What can I say, Fallout 3 hasn't crashed on me yet but then I'm still fairly early in the game. I disarmed the nuke to get the shed in Megaton to have a base of operations. I guess there are still problems with continuing games started before the patches were issued. I hate when that happens. Patches shouldn't invalidate or cripple your progress in a game but they often do. I'm curious to see how far I'll get.

Ive had a few crashes in Fallout 3, and never in the same place twice heh. Best thing you can do is save often.
Oh and I'd recommend at some point making a save point just before you deactivate the bomb in Megaton, and actually blowing it up, then you can go back and undo it if you so choose. But it sure is pretty to watch when that thing goes off! :D
You can also get the sheriff to try and arrest the guy who wants you to blow up the place with all the consequences that entails. It's quite amazing what choices you have.
The game's hard enough as it is and it's nice to have a place to call your own in a game of that scope. I wonder if there are other place you can buy. As I understand it, you can even purchase stuff to decorate your place, if you care for things like that. :D
if you blow up megaton, then the guy who told you to do it will offer you a room in tenpenny tower. A MUCH nicer room btw. If you blow up the town and let the ghouls infest tenpenny you still get a room, you just need to remember to put on a mask to go in.

Or kill them all and go in anyway :D
Go and do the Operation Anchorage expansion early on, you get a nice big shiny gun as a result ;)
Fallout 3 did misbehave slightly yesterday, during my hacking attempts of a security console. After telling me how to hack my way in it wouldn't bring up the console interface. I had to restart the game as reloading a savegame I did moments before didn't solve the problem.
The game is truly made to experiment with different outcomes and meant to be played many times. Right now I'm not following the main quest yet because I want to get my skills up and more gear so I will stand a chance against the creatures that will surely come my way. There's only so much you can do with a mere pistol and a police baton.
I'm supposed to test a repellent stick against mole rats in a specific sewer system in D.C. and I'm trying to get to it from a different angle (*). This is turning out to be rather difficult as the capital is mainly made of rubble and I have to use damaged subway tunnels to get to my destination. I'm currently battling ghouls and super mutants. I keep looking out for parts that will allow me to custom build weapons later on. That flaming sword may be the first one I will be able to make.
(*) The reason for this is that I don't want to walk past that supermarket that's on the shortest path as it will trigger that fire ant quest which I don't think I'm ready for. I've been using frag grenades against those giant ants with stunning results, but this strategy only works well outdoors at a safe distance. I wouldn't want to play with hot potatoes in a crowded corridor. :D
As you can see, there is a lot of fun to be had in a single game. Check out these screenshots of the latest upcoming expansion. Bug-eyed aliens, what's not to like? :)
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?

I'm sure the people at nma-fallout.com will have found lot's of stuff to complain and cry in outrage about...

Awesome! Hopefully complete with some sexy ray guns! :p

Pro-tip: Most quests don't have to be finished as soon as they're started. :p I got nailed trying to do the fire-ants at too low a level, so I ran away, did many, many other quests, then came back and finished it off.
That's why I'm doing Moira Brown's quests first, to level up before trying tougher missions. I'm not sure I'll get to where I'm trying to go by the path I've chosen. The map indicates a dotted line showing me the way to get there, but I'm unsure if I have the means to actually get past whatever gets thrown my way. I've learned to use the guns dropped by my fallen foes to not run out of ammo. I even found some advanced armor from some Brotherhood of Steel knights, but I don't have enough skills to put it on. So I'm still sneaking around trying to take the creatures by surprise. Certain mutants are more sensitive in places you wouldn't suspect. :)
Well, I made it to the Tepid Sewers. From Megaton I walked south of Super-Duper Mart towards Marigold Station, then south to Falls Church Metro, sneaked through the Hubris Comics building Spoiler: (there is a booby trapped software beta testing facility inside the underground floor, I suppose that's an inside joke waiting to be found.) and through the maintenance shafts north to Wilhelm's Wharf. I dipped into the Potomac to make it to Anchorage Memorial island and again to make it to the other shore. The entire route looks like a square root symbol and all that trouble to avoid the kid that tasks you with the fire ant mission. :D
Well, I found all the junk to make myself a Shishkebab flame sword, which does over 3 times as much damage as a regular police stick. I also noticed that the assault rifle is much better at dealing with ghouls than the hunting rifle I took from the luke warm paws of a super mutant.
I also dispatched my very first Deathclaw on top Anchorage Memorial using a laser rifle. I feel like a big game hunter now. :D At least I'm not wearing orange.

See, I've played Fallout thru at least 4 times now, and I didnt know about the Comics building :D there's just so much in the game to explore, it would take ages to find everything!

There is. My first time through, I managed to completely miss Arlington Cemetary.

I like how the game lets you play the way you see fit. The lack of abundant ammo also forces you to try out different weapons and tactics you wouldn't even think of using if you had the choice. I was running low on ammo for my hunting rifle and had to switch to my assault rifle and thanks to its higher rate of fire allows me to put down ghouls that much faster. But I only have a limited amount of cartridges so I'll eventually have to switch to the newly found combat shotgun I scavenged from a raider, which should work nicely in confined places. I also found a flame thrower a while ago, which may be useful in dealing with my fire ant problem. :D
Why wasn't there ever an Eternal Darkness 2? I'm playing Eternal Darkness again after a few years' absence. Beat it on the second playthrough and starting the third now, so I can see that secret ending. This is really the only game that's ever managed to creep me out.
well its not my save game, the game freezes up on trying to start a new game too.
Its not the computer, I have rebuilt it since I first started having this problem. Its not the OS, I have the same problem in Vista and 7. Its not the save game, happens regardless as to how far or how long I have played. Not happy with the way this really fun game performs.
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
Try adjusting your settings. When I first started, I had all settings up max. After a few crashes, I turned off anti-aliasing, and never had another problem. Anti-aliasing isn't really necessary at 1920x1200 anyway.
Where exactly does it crash? I've had my share of problems I've managed to fix--not that that necessarily means anything, given this game is pretty notorious for crashes.
Fallout 3 crashed on me last night. I was in the middle of nowhere and the game quit to desktop. Vista shut it down for some reason I have yet to determine. I'm not sure it was truly a problem of the game, since Vista contains some applications that will interfere with hard drive operations on occasion when they try to index or scan your files when you least need it. I'm not the kind of user who disables anti-virus software to play games, but maybe I should for heavy-duty games like this.
I also got to try the flamer on a pesky rad scorpion... which took 3 or 4 short bursts to be roasted to perfection.
Still I feel I'm ill equipped to be running around carelessly, so most of the time I'm still sneaking around.
ShadowDancerWhen I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie."London, UK
Thats pretty standard for most of the game Stingray, although if you keep running and check your six every few minutes you can cover lots of ground in the Wastelands at least.
In other news: I was experimenting with drivers for my audio card when I noticed that there was a new one available. I installed it and hey presto! Empire Total War seems to be working now! :)
