I'm in the process of trying to escape from the Vault. The game looks awesome on my new rig. Oblivion can't touch it as far as how polished it is. Having the latest patch installed probably helps too. :D

Great first impression. Loving it so far. :)

I'm definately looking for something new to play on my new machine..

I just finished playing thru the XWA Tie Fighter Total Conversion. It added a lot in terms of ship handling to the game play compared to the original, tho it was not without its own challenges. The new ship models also included updated weapons specs, so some missions that worked fine in the original game could be rather 'challenging'!

I've just moved on to playing XWA now, with an updated craft pack from that site. There are some pretty nifty new ships added as well, for instance there are now Eclipse-class SSD's you can go up against, as well as an accurate scale 17.5km long Executor SSD! All in all a huge improvement and much fun! :D

I got Battle for Middle Earth 2 from amazon this morning, so when I'm finished with XWA that will give me something to do

PC version I hope :)

Worf seems to disagree with you as well Messiah! :p

Worf: indeed it is. Like FPS, I contend that RTS is a genre that shouldn't be played on a console

I'm looking for something that's going to push my new machine.. nothing I currently have does it.
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
^^^^ Poor baby. :D
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Of course i haven't bought a new game in years... so perhaps that could be it
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
I'm sure there's something out there that can test your rig. There usually always is... FSX will slow any rig available today, all you have to do is push the visual settings sliders. :D
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
well the only "modern" game i've got is Warcraft (lich king) i turned the settings to "Ultimate" which puts everything on full bore, now i just have to go to a major city to see how much it slows down.
• PSI-KILLERPSI-KILLER Needs help
Crysis in DX10 fully maxed is usally a great test for a machine. My machine is dated, on the Nurien demo test i only get 10fps.

Still playing Fallout 3, as could be expected. I'm amazed by the many choices you have and the many ways there are to solve quests. As far as I can tell, the skills are a lot more useful and what you say or do has consequences on so many levels.

I just became owner of my own "aviation grade" shed in Megaton, after disarming the live nuke the town was named after. The good news is that you can level up fairly well even if you don't do so by means of killing critters. I've been sneaking around for the most part and reached level 4 through solving quests for the most part.

I'm truly impressed by how clever the interface is, how you can customize the quick-keys for your weapons of your choice and switch between 1st and 3rd person view. The VATS system takes some getting used to, but if used properly you can even dispatch a couple super mutants with a 10mm pistol (while dancing around a rock formation, that's how I got myself my very own mini-gun.). :D

If you only buy one game this year, if you haven't done so, buy Fallout 3! You won't regret it. (Well, that's if you have the rig to run it, that is.)

I'll have to get Crysis and see what it does to the machine ,its a core i7, 9 gigs of ram with dual GTS 250's (yeah i know, only 250's...)

I found Mass Effect a far more enjoyable game than Fallout 3.

Heh, I think Stingray is in love! :D
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Playing through:

Fallout 3- Liking it, but not in love with it like Stingray. I have to play in bursts, cause I get sick of it after a while

Empire Total War- I enjoy the strategic elements more than the tactical combat, but having fun. Crashing issues though

Titan's Quest (original + expansion): Fun, mindless gameplay. Enjoying it.

Half dozen others that are sitting around in my backlog. The Witcher is at the top of that list. Oh, and would like to play some eve again here in a bit

I stopped playing ME a while ago. I suppose it's a matter of preference. I recall playing a game called BioForge, which was a game IIRC that played very much like ME and I enjoyed it immensely for the story and the production values. As I've said elsewhere, I was expecting ME to be a shooter like Halo, but it isn't at all, so I was a bit disappointed. It looks great and it's a system hog to be sure, but I don't see myself going back anytime soon.
Heh, I think Stingray is in love! :D
With a piece of software? Well, I like it for sure, but I wouldn't go that far as to say that I love it. I'm impressed by the effort put into this project and the result is nothing short of stunning. I suppose it's the surprise of Fallout 3 not being as buggy as the rest of the sandbox games out there. GTA4 is also up there, but it pales in comparison with the amount of detail and possibilities offered in F3.

I've been religiously downloading the patches over the years and months and now I can't seem to get my hands on the installation media. Apparently patch 6.3 should basically make it the game it should have been in the first place. I only played it a bit, but the patching drove me mad, so I put the game on the backburner.

So many games, so little time. :D

Rhett: your lucky, I can't even get Empire Total War to load as far as the main menu
• Pixel_DonkeyPixel_Donkey Earthforce Officer
I know for a fact my pc won't be able to handle Empire Total War otherwise I would have it, im building up a spare pc to be able to handle it though.

Im currently playing Fable 2, im close to finishing it then might buy the expansions.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
Thats the really annoying thing, my pc should be able to handle it no problem. It must be a driver issue or something, but I'll be dammed it I can figure out whats causing the problem
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Wow even with the latest patches? I know some people have had problems, but thats awful. I'm not even sure where to start, except I know for me alot of my recent problems have--inexplicably--been vista related. Obvious fixes are drivers and such, but I'm sure you've gone through all of that.

I think the game is worth trying to get running, I've had fun with it. Not sure it will hold me for more than 25 hours or so total, but I got it on sale so I'm ok with that.
• ShadowDancerShadowDancer When I say, "Why aye, gadgie," in my heart I say, "Och aye, laddie." London, UK
I'm still on XP, so unfortunately I cant blame it on vista. But yes, I've got the game all patched up, I installed the nvidia drivers that are reckoned to be the most stable with it. The only real candidate left is my audio drivers since my audio card is an el-cheapo one I got off ebay. Unfortunately I cant afford to get a decent one right now, so it looks like nothings going to change for a while at least :(
• StingrayStingray Elite Ranger
Speaking of which, I'm doing all my gaming on Vista Ultimate for some time now and I'm not having more problems with it than I had with XP. I guess it helps to run on Dell hardware which, if treated properly, runs fairly reliably.

Man, Fallout 3 really kicks a$$. I'm doing the research missions for Moira (I have the feeling they are standing in for tutorial quests to help you get familiar with all the things you can run into) and this has me wandering off around the suburbs of the capital and I'm finding all kinds of handguns and rifles. Quite satisfying if you care for such things. :D
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
