I should say, I feel so much better about gaming *culture*. I'm not sure what disturbs me more, the fact that some people would waste 3 days straight playing games, or that they would waste perfectly good drugs on gaming...
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Nothing wrong with wasting three days straight playing games if there is some point to the game other than shooting everything in site. Of course, doing it regularly may be a problem...
I find it odd that people are taking drugs at the same time though.

While the concept of non-stop gaming is a nifty one, the issue of drug use is nothing good. Thing is, I know a bunch of the types stated in the article. Druggies who go to lan parties and get high, playing quake, UT, and the rest for a day or more.
I think that this was summarized best in the writeup for Penny Arcade found here. (third paragraph)

What's there to say, really, about that Salon article? We momentarily considered casing it for a possible strip, but it's so inane on the face of it that the piece in question doesn't require the unique services we offer. I once denigrated my own technique where writing was concerned, imagining that true writers were initiates in some secret cult and until they came in cloaks and let you in, you weren't even an amateur - it was more like you just had a shaky hand, and your work was more the result of a mechanical process than a creative one. An article like this really strips all the mystery out of that equation - want to be a writer? It's very easy, from the looks of it. You start out by having no knowledge whatsoever of the subject matter, and you roll without aim along that vector - like a snowball down a gravel hill - accruing detritus and useless trivia until you acquire sufficient wordcount. kcgeek has more on the topic, if you'd like to read it. I think I'm probably done.
Randy -- I however, still think of you (and it, the writing thing) as being a member of a secret cult. Maybe more of a secret organization, like the Illuminatti, Free Masons, or Blue-Blazer's.
