Ah just me being too literal again then. I read it as meaning 1900-1910 heh ;)
Ah, yes, I write 1900s because I would just mix up the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.. :)
  •
Though I've suffered a lot and seen a lot of wrong in my twenty three years of existence I still have a slight faith in humanity. At the least I still have faith in myself.

I remember about 4 years ago I had an argument with my brother and dad about people being naturally good vs naturally evil. I was so convinced that people were naturally good, that I told my father, I was going to stop working, stop going to school and become a writer.

He talked with his usual condescending tone "Son...listen." But now I'm thinking I was just naive and he was right all along and most of that time I spent was wasted.

But one can never tell what the future holds.
Well, as long as you learned from it, it wasn't a total waste. At least, that's how I like to see things. And why to I like to see things like that? That's right, because it makes me feel good.

    SpiritOne:

the most modern and recent egregious violation of an ethnic groups civil rights happened during WWII to the Japanese, and there was no religious motivation there. Religion is just one of many tools used to oppress.

As for the nature of humanity. Its not that people are naturally evil, its that as biological creatures we are naturally selfish. we cant help it, were are literally bread that way. Its in our DNA.

People you have to realize, if we are nothing but evolutions from monkeys, we are just animals. and we are playing with much the same deck they are. Even our vaunted rationality is probably more influenced by emotional factors, thus a combination of programed behaviors and things we observed and felt as children, then anything we now know and learn.

In the end though, people really do suck to some extent, its natural. just accept it, try to minimize the damage you do to people by just being yourself and looking after your own interests. If somebody harms you, figure out why they did it, and what it really gained them. Then fuck them over with a chainsaw and a 2x4 :P

Then again, I know bad people so I am jaded as hell.
