I tried this morning...but I didn't get there early enough to beat the morning crush. I stood in line for a while, but once I got inside the church where our polling place was, I was at the tail of a long snake...so I'll try again this evening.

Jake,
If you could get out between 1 and 4 you should be ok. I was there at 6am and got out a little after 8. That was in the ballwin area. After 5, I think there will be a massive crush too.

I don't think it will be bad this evening at all. In our precinct there are supposedly 1400 registered voters and as of 10:30 AM 750 people had voted!

• I don't vote. It's pointless, and stupid. I'm just waiting for it to be over to watch our country fall further into chaos and disorder, and some assinations.
• Random ChaosRandom Chaos Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
Did it this morning just after the polls opened. Took 25 minutes to get from entering the line to walking out of the building.
• Did they have poll dancers? http://www.explosm.net/comics/1451/
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
I walked into my local voting site and was out within 15 minutes. No line whatsoever and it was walking distance from my home.

Not only that, but it was 75F outside and sunny. Voted Obama/Biden, but otherwise stayed pretty bipartisan.

Approaching government with that point of view will only lead to that end...

Obama Wins!

NO MORE POLITICAL ADS!!! ...for a while. Yay! :D
• Congratulations for Barack Obama. McCain's concession speech was probably the most moving one I've heard from him this far, let's hope Obama can top it.

When McCain was giving his concession speech, all I could think was, where the hell has that McCain been for the last year and a half??? Tonight I saw the John McCain I used to love.

Obama's acceptance speed was good. Honest, and true to whats going on.

I agree, McCain's speech was awesome he went out with dignity. Obama's speech reminded me a bit like the speech the sorting hat made during book 5... stick together, get the job done.. *g33k? yes.

I have to say, even though I thought Obama would clinch the Presidency I didnt expect it to be as clear cut a result.

Jesus Christ! Landslide victory! Wow, just wow I expected him to win by a very slim margin. I hope we all made the right decision though, guess we'll know in 4 years.

*crosses fingers*
• I predict that 4 years from now, nothing will have changed, with the possible exception that we might pull out of Iraq a little sooner.

Other than that, bigger government with more power than ever, a nation even more polorized between parties than it is now, and individuals will continue to lose their rights and freedoms as has been seen under Bush as the government continues to grow.

remember remember the 5th of November, the gun powder treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gun powder treason should ever be forgot
• I was expecting the 1812 Overture after the speeches as well, but nothing happened. At least not yet.

Aw, you were so much more enthusiastic eight years ago.

Oh. I guess you were surprised.

8 years ago I was 16 years old, and still belived that man was good at heart. In those 8 years I learned that man is an overtly selfish creature, and given some small measure of power will do everything possible to gain more power for ones self. very few and far between are men who are selfless. I am privileged to call some such men friends, but ultimately, any change that will happen in this country will only happen by a revolution. I do not welcome such action as it's cost will be high, but that is the only way out that I see.

I give the USA about 100 years on it's current track before it collapses, or is overthrown, and I feel I am generous in that number.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, McCain missed his train a long time ago. He should have been elected instead of W. The same happened to Bob Dole before. History teaches them nothing.

Well, now the world knows about the big fat lie of there being no money to fund this or that social program. When things go truly south then all of a sudden there are bail-out packages dropping from the skies. I think that fact didn't go unnoticed.

They need to work on the image problem. :D
