I thought the US Army wasn't allowed to be active on US soil?

Apparently a bill was passed and signed by the president called the Posse Comitatus in other words Martial Law.

I been watching this one for awhile.

I found this article that helps explain Posse Comitatus better. Its a bit wordy but here is the summary.

The (Posse Comitatus) act is a statutory creation, not a constitutional prohibition.

    There is more

This is the actual bill that passed last year expanding the powers of the president. It allows him to declare a public emergency for any reason and tell congress about it later:

Google " John Warner National Defense Authorization Act" for more info.

Still the threat is there. Didn't I read a while back somebody mentioning a civil war if things got really bad?

I am going to write my senator this is a little too scary for me and it needs to be addressed. And not through some email snail mail baby.
  • MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Do you really think he/she/it will read it?

I'va actually met my Senator before complaining about something else. Its been a couple of years though I doubt he'd recognize the name. But I do expect him to read it, yes.

I am actually very concerned the direction this country has taken. And finally, when it looks like its about turn around, reality comes up, and kicks me in the nuts...

Some of you guys know I used to be in the Marines, and I like to shoot, and own a few guns. But really, thats about the only conservative part of me. The rest of me very liberal, especially when it comes to the rights of my gay friends. I think its a dam travesty that they are being discriminated against in a country that is supposed to value freedom for all above all else.

Here we are a month from the election, the McSame/Palin camp has resorted to mud slinging because lets face it, they don't have a prayer left at election. So it gives me some hope that the country will get out of the funk its in with an Obama administration. Then comes the kick in the nuts....

I frequent a few websites dedicated to politics. They make me feel like I should be on blood pressure medicine. There are people out there that are racists, extreme anti-semites, and they think anyone who doesn't think like them is not only wrong, but a threat. People so vile it makes my stomach crawl to know that there is someone out there so blindly ignorant to reality that they actually think Barak Obama is himself a terrorist.

At a Sarah Palin rally while talking about Bill Ayers (whom like most topics, she knows nothing about) she says "Who is Barak Obama" to which some in the audience scream "a terrorist", and another said "Kill him". She continued on with her baseless character assassination without skipping a beat. She heard a man in the audience suggest we kill a presidential candidate and didn't say a dam thing about it. What the fuck is wrong with her? Their whole dam party?

Then I see stuff like this, where Bush has put into place a mechanism that could potentially lead to Marshal law. I read a BBC article where he already has laws in place that could potentially give him the power to postpone the elections themselves if there was a terror attack.

The GOP has had this country living in fear for the last 8 years, and they don't want to give it up. The closer this election gets, and the more crazy people I se online, makes me think all of this might be for not. I generally worry about some whacko conservative killing the man who most likely will be the next President of the US, and then Bush declaring a state of emergency, going Marshal Law and the next thing you know were living in a dictatorship under GWB. And the scary part is, I don't think this fear is baseless. I can see it happening. And there aint a dam thing I can do about it.

Ya know I walked down the street today quite far earlier and it seems everything is closing down. At least all the small business's. My two friend's who are immigrant workers no longer have jobs...forget my problem.

But I watched the debates and it just seems like they are both repeating each other. I see no difference vocally but you can check each candidates voting record at votetheissues.org. I'm not voting for Mccain though I can't it would go against everything I believe in. Alot of people I know are very nervous about this. I just hope whoever gets elected doesn't do what I think they will...
