    Not sure if the boycott still makes a lot of sense at this point, the guy responsible for the mess has long since left the company.

    But I can say with some pride that Sierra hasn't gotten much money from me over these years.

    I still haven't played the sequel to Half Life (a Sierra published game)... which doesn't make any sense as it's also distributed over Steam, I guess I'm scarred for life. :D

    Funny thing is I have a steam account only so I could play the HL2 demo and later I installed the Race 07 demo which requires steam :( but due to crap dial-up,dsl in South Africa the chances of me getting HL2 full version is nill! :(

    Hmmm, not sure how Sierra-free David and I have been. I know our original Half-Life was a serial code from the library, I have the Orange Box but not sure if its published by Sierra....David did get the Homeworlds, I know the original was Sierra.

    ...oh, Arcanum was Sierra :(

    I never really held to the boycott. I felt that it was too impractical and couldn't really serve to make much of an impact, either positive or negative. Instead, I just focused on buying the games that were good and not buying the games that were crap.

    I really liked F.E.A.R., of course, there was a whole other thing going on with Sierra over that series as well. And yes, the two Homeworlds were also very good.

    What's the catch? There is always a catch. :D

    Do I have to buy another game on Steam first? I'm not on Steam yet... and I'm still a bit reluctant. Not sure if it is worth it.

    steam is freaking awesome.

    And no catch, I bought HL2 the day it came out...actually, preordered, predownloaded, and started playing at 3am local time.

    Then I bought the orange box, which included HL2. So they wrote it off as "1 Free Gift" which I can give to anyone with a steam account.

    just add me as a friend once you install the steam client. (Steam is freakign awesome BTW, I prefer getting my games through it than in store just about every time. Special Editions with goodies being an exception. :)

    my Steam ID is A2597. Oh, and you'll get HL2 DM along with it, and Lost Coast.

    actually..there might be a catch. Once you have steam, you're desire to buy cheap games will heighten, and you'll likely find yourself wanting some kick ass games during the weekend deals. (Last one was the entire iD collection for 60$...freaking sweet)

    9 years went so fast. I did do some Sierra over the years I admit enjoying HL2 and all episodes. I am looking forward to the HL last episode. One curious item, I found a new flight sim being relased by the end of this month ( [url]http://www.paradoxplaza.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=398&Itemid=229[/url]) You don't normally see new space flight sim games around. Right around the time of 9 year mark(strange). If you look at the system requirements it almost like it took them 9 years to make it.. :)

    speaking of space games.... I went to AGDC (Austin Game Developers Conference) yesterday with the intent of the meet and greet with the Netdevil guys. They brought Jumpgate Evolution down and let us take a peek.

    Its looking really really sharp. Cant wait to play it. It is still in Alpha stage right now, but beta should be soon.

    Has Sierra actually directly made any games that matter in the last decade? I bought HL2 and Fear but technically those were not sierra games, they just distributed.

    Unfortunately, the only games they made in-house were pretty terrible. The boycott did not distinguish between these and published works, however.

    Haven't actually bought any games since then, except for Sims 2, Battlefield 1942 collection and ToCA race Driver 3 which is actually a [b]Codemasters[/b] game. So my boycott is still holding, even though unintentionally :D
