Doctor Who

WORFWORF The Burninator
Hmm.
Not a bad start to series 4, seems pretty much like the other first episodes.

Something tells me they realised what a mistake Tate is and added a certain scene near the end to make people stick around.

And the look on The Doctor's face when he first sees Donna was amusing.

I still wish we had Sally Sparrow.
• Due to relativistic effects, and the time zone issue, I will be able to comment on the episode in about thirty minutes. Plus the time it takes to watch it.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
Spoiler: well, that wasn't half bad.
I'm still open-minded about donna. She wasn't as annoying as she could have been in this. Though I wonder how she'll fit into other time-periods...
Though i wonder (warning, geek alert): shouldn't Rose beeing able to at least somehow manifest in our universe mean, that the hole in the universe has been reopened? I think to remember that the doctor said at the end of Doomsday that his transmission was only possible for a short time because the cracks, that still allowed "communication" were closing fast.
Oh, and Doomsday music theme at the end :D

Oh, and non-timelords with a device like a sonic screwdriver?
• Okay, Worf, I believe your interpretation of that scene was incorrect. Spoiler: If you meant the scene where The Doctor has second thoughts about bringing along Donna, I disagree. The Doctor doesn't want to go around breaking hearts, and he wanted to make it absolutely clear he wanted to be nothing more than friends with her. Especially with how excited she was at meeting him again.

Unless you're talking about the scene with Rose - I think that's just a blatant attempt to telegraph where the season is going. Perhaps they thought that the grafitti and the whole Mr. Saxon meme were too subtle for their audience.

And I still don't get why people react with horror to Catherine/Donna - she didn't really start acting obnoxious until she started getting her luggage. I think she's the perfect foil for The Doctor, especially after three seasons of wide-eyed, adoring companions who worship the ground he walks on.

Vertigo, I did mean the Spoiler: scene with Rose, which I agree gives a big clue where the series is going this year. Still I maintain it was used so early because of the very negative fan reaction to Tate. This combined with how little she's been used in the trailers and they also spent a good 10 minutes of Doctor Who confidential praising the actress and the character.

• And it's all justly earned!

I told one of my (american) Who-fan friends that I just couldn't get the Tate-Hate. His response was that it was because I didn't know what it was to be "bovvered."

Actually, I think they might be playing the poster game again.

This is a background image on the Torchwood site that looks very out of place and there wasn't anything related to those posters in the second series.

Spoiler: They look like band names to me, maybe advertising for a club or something like that? Anyway towards the end of Doctor Who, when he and Donna are talking in the alley, I spotted a poster with those names on it. Here's the one in Doctor Who, just to the right of the Doctor.

A very interesting start to the season. I'm insanely curious about Spoiler: Rose being there. Worf might be right about the real reason, but I want to know what the in-show reason is, now!

Um, I don't know about low spoiler levels, the last paragraph is a fairly big spoiler. Spoiler: I swear there better be SOME mention of Susan in that episode.

I'm still wondering about the other set of posters I've seen. Spoiler: They're kind of old now, but it's still curious. They were in the Sarah Jane episode, "The Warriors of Kudlak", the Who episode "Blink" AND in the Torchwood episode "Random Shoes", all the exact same posters. I'm still not convinced there's no link there.

Spoiler: A link like, say, "We need some posters. Go see what props have on hand."?
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
Maybe.
• You see? Tate's character contributed something good this week.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Impossible Vertigo_1, you are next in line for extermination.

Watched the Harold Saxon episodes yesterday.. and have to say was really sad to see him go. There was just something about him.. and that fellow has been the most interesting character in my opinion of all the supporting cast of Doctor Who.. that I know of.

None of the other villains have had similar impact on me.. and the Daleks.. Psah. They are a joke. :P
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
He was definitely one of the best versions of The Master.
• Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
Aye. The beginning for the Last of the Timelords was great. When he comes dancing in. :D
• WORFWORF The Burninator
That was great :D

Episode 2 Spoiler: That was an interesting episode. Looks like they're going to be ramming hints about Rose down our throats again. I also noticed that a second planet has gone missing. Not quite sure how that ties in yet.

In fact, it's not impossible Sanfam. Watch the episode. :P

And Worf, I wouldn't call Spoiler: one oblique mention of Rose "ramming it down our throats" just yet. Gees, you guys all make so many rash assumptions about stuff. :P

Really.. It's a pity what they did. I mean.. Daleks are a joke.. Cybermen are a bit meh.. How can they get a more better villain for the Doctor? Do they have any?
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
The Daleks were alright until Helen Raynor got her hands on them.

Really.. It's a pity what they did. I mean.. Daleks are a joke.. Cybermen are a bit meh.. How can they get a more better villain for the Doctor? Do they have any?
The Master is a great Doctor Who villian. But he (and to a lesser extent the Daleks) just can't bring himself to do what needs to be done - as poignantly evidenced by that video. He can't decide! It shouldn't be a decision - not if he really wants to conquer the galaxy. At least the Daleks say they're going to shoot on sight, even if he's quickly able to talk them out of it long enough to stop them.

Doctor Who villians have this bad habit of hesitating from killing the Doctor, and it's starting to become unfeasible. This is the same Doctor that stopped the Master over and over. This is the same Doctor that destroyed the Time Lords *and* the Daleks. But *this* time, our plan is foolproof, so we'll let the Doctor talk as long as he wants!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI

I think that this may actually be the best Doctor Who villian of all time.

I was going to say "It's not funny anymore," but then I realized that it never was funny at all, so that'd be a lie.

Episode 3:
Not entirely sure there was a point to that episode other than to use out-of-control red-eyed Ood again. Kids must have really liked them. So yeah, it was neat and all, but nowhere near as good as last week's.
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Spoiler: I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy another episode with rampaging Ood but I thought it turned out pretty well. I liked that The Doctor felt he should help them because he couldn't last time. She is still annoying though.

• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
Spoiler: She was more annoying than in last week's episode, I'll grant you that, but I still don't find her nearly as annoying as you guys do. The episode was definitely well done, beautiful effects and such, the plot just seemed a bit cliched whereas last week there was some actual serious emotion there.

I found this episode (3) to be the best yet this season.....

Oh, and the Ood commercial in the episode reminded me about a certain show called B5 and a Grey Council meeting...
