How do you get the Mod working?

Ok I've installed the Mod files for Freespace 2... how do I get it to work now? There's no instruction file on how to run the mod....

    hmm, on the install its asking me to replace or ignore the following file: Acid_sand.pcx

    anybody get that one come up?

    Ok got it working, just a few glitches!

    Man is this a sweet Mod! The detail is stunning! Very very impressed!

    And boy are those Minbari crusiers hard!

    First you install core files. Leave little mark on box and give your freespace2\data directory. Then install other packages to same path. When you install hi-res pack it will overwrite some mods textures. Press yes to all.

    If you got full package(130mg) you still have to get that hi-res if you want better quality.

    Hi-res pack needs graphic card which support 512*512 textures. All new ones will.

    You have to select EA-Minbari War demo on campaign menu before playing. Many people seems to forgot in such hurry to play. [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif[/img]

    Ps. I was little late. Oh, and try to play mod in Insane difficulty.

    Cheers Warlord II. I'm finished lunch now, so I can't play any more. Booo hoo! Oh well maybe tomorrow.

    I've played it on medium setting so far and it was not to bad shooting down the Nial fighters.

    You propably play in work? Then you probaply play with mouse?? That's just too easy [img]http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif[/img]

    You should try with joystick, that is more challenging.

    My boss wouldn't buy me one. We were after him for ages to get a steering wheel. I suppose I'd have to get my own and bring it in. And yep I play in work, during my lunch hours of course.

    I think most people assume that since all the menus and stuff have been replaced that the game will already go to the B5 campaign.

    Nothing sad about having a Mac, except that shed loads of games don't come to it, though that is changing....

    Very slowly. So far, the games I like to play are really only available on windows. Only the 3D shooter-type games are becoming more cross-platform available.

    You just replace the contents in the "data" folder with mod files. And voila.

    It sounded like you were saying that better selling game types would be made first for marginal platforms, eg Macs.

    Ok, I've been playing the demo mission, save the Yorktown and Dublin... its fun, up until the point when the Minbari cruiser jumps out, destroys the Dublin and leaves us sitting there... The Yorktown comes across the comm saying activate jump engines, which I do (shift j), tells us to juimp and nothing happens, the Yorktown just sits there... what do I do? I've flown around for abotu 5 mins and nothing happens. Any ideas?

    Yeah I had to press it twice before anyone jumped. The ship should jump on its own.

    Have you remapped your keys because I jump with alt-J? If keys are correct then mission may have event that Yorktown jumps when you jump. When you try to jump you have to be near jump point or cap-ship otherwise you won't be able to jump.

    I just use alt j. It works fine now. Saved Earth just this lunch time actually. Only managed 9 kills throughout the campaign, thanks to the accuracy of mr mouse here.

    Actually, while I'm typing, how does one get the addon missions to work. I downloaded them from the site, added them to the mission folder, but I can't choose them. I though after completing the Minbari War demo, that I would be able to move onto the other missions. I can't work out how to choose them. Double clicking on them just opens up the map editor. Any ideas??

    God this thread is just full of me asking questions....

    Why doesn't the Yorktown jump on it's own? Wouldn't it make more sense for the cap ship to jump whether the fighter follows it or not?

    Because then you'd all be complaining about how you can jump in a fighter on your own.

    We will have this worked out a little better in the next release.

    You have mission unzipped in mission folder, right?
    In main menu go to tech data then choose mission simulator on upper bar. Then down in screen is single player - choose it if not choosed by default. Then just select mission and press accept.

    Haven't you played custom missions before?(From FS2 tech room)

    Cheers for that Warlord II. I had gone to the simulator section, but I didn't check the single/multiplayer bit. I'll give it a try. No I never played FS2 before. It was a game I always wanted but no PC to play it on. I intend to get a decent spec PC to play games on, but I want a good G4/G5 before I do that.
