ehhh it was too fast for me. It was okay, the humor kinda went past me a bit but it was interesting. I don't understand why he had to Spoiler: kill himself at the end though.

It doesnt come out till boxing day over here but I cant wait to see it.

Johnny: I'd recommend reading the original book. I dont know (yet) how the movie compares to it and what they've cut etc, but it a great read anyway, and if the movie is at all like the book it may shed some light on it

Spoiler: I saw it yesterday. This latest movie is, alas, not at all like the book. The infected people in this movie are essentially stupid, brainless zombies, whereas in the book they were all intelligent beings. Also, the end is very different. Overall, I found it to be entertaining and cinematically well done (dull brown pallete, very little music, for examples), but if you go in expecting the book, you'll be disappointed.

Spoiler: Did you notice that the album he holds up and says "best album ever" is Legend, by Bob Marley, and all the music is from Legend i thought that was a nice touch,

I did not like the fact that the baddies were mindless Zombies instead of Vampires, I liked how the book actually gave a medical reason for the existance of Vampires,

I really missed having the Ben Cortman character, and also the book, took place over 3 years, really giving a sense of lonliness and despiration to the character, you never really get that in the movie.

However, as i said, the Movie is true to the general idea of the book, While not as good a story as the book, As an "Action Horror" movie, it was very good.

The end was definately more cheerful than the book.

Thats a shame then, but it wont stop me from going to see it

Don't go expecting the Book, you'll be dissapointed, if you look at it as just a movie, it was good.

Looks like a straight rip from the English based zombie movie, '28 Days'... then again, zombie movies are all derivative, zombies are flat out derivative..:)
• I don't think I can handle another I, Robot with No Country For Old Men still fresh on my mind.

It's based on a book that was written in 1957.

what part of derivative do you not understand ? :)

I'd definitely prefer it to have been vampires not zombies. Zombies have been done to death :D hehe

Vampires are just so much cooler!

... and Vampires haven't ?

I was referring to your comment that it looks like a straight rip of 28 Days Later, when, if anything, 28 Days Later is a straight rip of I Am Legend (although the creator of 28 Days Later actually credits The Day of the Triffids). :) As you say, though, they're all derivative...

I actually thought 28 days later was one of the best Zombie flicks i'd seen in a long time (28 weeks sucked though IMHO)

Best Zombie flick of the past few years is Shaun of the Dead tho.. heh

Jack: Well, yeah, ok true.....but vampires can be sexy, zombies are just dead boring by comparison

I haven't seen it yet but it has to be better than The Omega Man.

Heh... Charlton Heston... Yeah, rip rip rip...

:)

Both the Omega Man (1971) and the Last Man on Earth (1964) are quite forgettable films. I'm surprised the leads still had a career to speak of after that.

This current remake can only be an improvement.

Somehow I don't see how the book can be any better... but I may check it out.
• I Am Legend had loads of potential. Will Smith was awesome. It was visually pretty, zombies were as poor as poor can get though...

At first I thought I might enjoy this movie. It had that "good movie" feel to it. Then it just turned bad. For me, it was the "christian" thing. Couldn't stand it. It ruined the movie.
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
28 days was good, very good, it was actually relatively bleak in the end, if its one thing I hate its schmatlzly feelgood endings which Hollywood loves to dole out to the masses
• MundaneMundane Elite Ranger
The Christianity part was stupid. God still loves us, even though he killed 90% of all humans, and let the rest eat the immune ones...

Saw it this afternoon. I liked it, even tho I knew it wouldnt be like the book. I dunno about anyone else, but every time I saw on of the infected, especially the 'leader' guy, I kept seeing orcs from LOTR instead.

I agree about the christianity thing being stupid, there was no need. It just seemed like a cheap was to introduce the idea of the survivors. Overall tho, Im quite happy with it
