    heh, got it yesterday off Steam.

    Hellishly fun. :D It's DEFINATLY the spiritual sucessor to SystemShock 2.

    Read one guy beat it in 10 hours. Idiot. Me and my friend spent all day playing it and are only on the 4th or 5th level.

    Most DEFINATLY take the time to explore, listen to the audio logs, etc. So totally worth it, adds SO MUCH. :D

    I don't have the rig to run it, but when I get myself around to building a new computer, I'll build it specifically with BioShock in mind. The retail version's copy protection is giving people gray hair, it seems. :p Almost makes me feel like endorsing a pirated copy...

    Everything on my system should hack it, but I don't know if my video cards can. It recommends a 7900GT or better, and I only got 2 7600GS in SLI mode.

    I'm a snailgamer too... besides, they'll be cheaper and all patched up. :cool:

    This isn't so I can get them cheaper, nor is it because I can't be bothered playing it right now. There are very good reasons why I haven't upgraded my 4.5-year-old computer yet.

    If I had to guess, I'd say it has to do with taking pictures of volcanoes and trips around the globe... and getting a Ph.D for it. :D

    Wonder if it will run fine on my P4 3Ghz with 1Gig of ram and a 6800GT overclocked to Ultra. Its handled almost every modern game rather well at up to 1024X768 with 2X and 4X AA. I think most of the newer generation will really be pushing things. I really want to upgrade but have like a billion things I need to buy first and I fell into the dreaded AGP to PCIe gap. I can no longer upgrade one component at a time. In order to upgrade I need to replace everything.

    I am in the exact same situation. I want to go from a P4 to the Core 2 Duo and in order to do so I have to upgrade most of the components in my computer: processor, motherboard, memory, video card, and power supply. All in all, around $550 that I don't have right now. :(

    Im playing on a Athlon 64 x2 3800+, 2GB RAM and a 8600 GT, and it runs extremely smothly in 1280x786 (I'm playing on my media-center that's hooked up to my LCD-TV). Everything cranked up to max, and i've yet to experience ANY slowdown. I'm very happy about the performance.

    If SM 3.0 is requierd that could be a problem for some ATI users. Many older ATI cards simply do not support it. I remember this same issue came up with the last two splinter cell games when trying to run SM 3.0

    i downloaded the non steam version, and can get it to launch, but it crashes every time, according to the bioshock website, i need to use the latest beta nvidia drivers,

    pity that when i try and install the beta drivers, they don't recognize my viddy card.

    oh well, i guess i'll try it on my PC at home instead of the laptop.

    I'm wishing I could return the game and get a refund. I can't even install it, when the autopatcher tries to function it just timesout and uninstalls everything. There's no way to skip it either since it runs as part of the installation process. :(

    I understand why games have patches to fix bugs and such...but having to wait for a patch just to install the thing isn't really acceptable.

    Autopatcher worked fine here.. maybe a firewall issue?

    Yeah it looks good. Only good reviews. Well coded and works good on the right hardware. Only problem is I have too update my video card, cpu processor and a new OS for DX10. It is just too expensive right now. I will be sticking to console gaming till next year.

    Urgh, ordered it Monday with 3-5 day shipping. Didn't make it in four, so now it's seven. :(

    Now, maybe if I win the lottery over the weekend I can afford to play it at something above 20 fps... sad to see my 7800GT and 3700+ reduced to this already.
