Well I guess I can just not finish the season now... watched until about halfway through, and then all my free time disappeared. I liked the concept, but some of the quirks were getting to me
It wasn't a perfect show by any means, but it got better, a nd it was better than a lot of the reality dreck that is out there.
I think it could have developed into a good show over the years. i mean remember, S1 of B5 was a bit grating at times, imagine if it had been canceled before blossoming into the great show that it became?
Very true. And to be fair I haven't yet watched the last half of the season... So its a shame its been cancelled. You think there is any shot it will get a) picked up by another network or b) "uncancelled"? I don't think I've ever heard of a show being brought back after being canned.
I've got up to ep 11 and the show has gotten much better. There are times when its a bit cringe worthy and some of the style seems a bit rough round the edges at times. The thing that makes me cringe most is when the soapy music kicks in for a "soft scene", too much cheese for me. One mistake I remember was where one of the deputys was wearing his coat, it cut away and then back, coat was gone and then cut and came back again and bingo his coat was back on. Not a major plot hole thing but a bit of a goof all the same.
But overall its getting better so I'll stay watching it. I've read that there maybe plans to wrap the show up after the last episode. Maybe they'll do a tv movie or something.
Right now, all CBS has said is that they will meet to find a way to "Give us Closure" wether that means a 2 or 4 hour mini to wrap things up, or releasing what would have happened in text form. or some other way is yet to be detailed.
CBS still stands by their cancelation, HOWEVER, One of the producers of the show has told us that the show is not 100% dead, bringing it back is still a longshot, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities.
Also she says that there is HUGE interest from other networks. but i don't see the show going to another network, it's not like Scrubs, where it's an ABC produced show that NBC airs,. if NBC had canceled it, ABC would have picked it up, Jericho is produced by Paramount TV... Owned by CBS, so CBS produces and Distributes the show, so selling it to another network prolly wouldnt work, and, CBS is in a tough spot, if they sell it to another network, they are effectively selling off 8-10 million viewers. they don't want to lose that many viewers.
If they just cancel the show, many people who watched it may boycot CBS, but not 8-10 million. so their best way to keep viewers is to either bring the show back, or just flat cancel it.

How's this for the biggest stunner you've heard all day Sources close to CBS tell me that it is extremely likely that the Armageddonish drama Jericho--which did not make CBS '07-'08 schedule a few weeks ago, meaning it was effectilvely canceled—has been revived from the dead and will return for eight episodes for midseason.
Yes, things are looking quite promising. I would take 7 or 8 episodes with the chance that they would order 8 more to give a lite season. And then a season 3 of course:)
I would take the 7 or 8 eps as well, since that's all that was ordered for last season, then the show did well enough for them to pick up the rest of the season.
We fought CBS and... WE WON...

It's official: Jericho has been saved by the peanut gallery.
CBS announced Wednesday that it is resurrecting the postapocalyptic serial for a second, albeit abbreviated, season after an overwhelming fan campaign to bring back the show.
I'm really happy this is happening. This show has really grown on me now. Nice to see a studio actually listening to fans after a cancelation. And season 1 will be out on dvd on September 25th.
Just finished watching the season finale. I must confess, I liked Jericho quite a bit. Yes, there were some cheesy moments, but Heroes has those too and they are easy to ignore.
I'm glad they'll bring us a few more episodes to finish the story. I now also get the "nuts" insider joke. How appropriate. :D
Thats pretty much what I thought Stingray. In the end it really surprised me. From what I've read Season 2 is all ready to go. The network is just waiting to see which other current show is going to have a ratings bomb. Once that happens Jericho will fit into the vacant slot. I sure hope it continues really well other wise a couple of tons of nuts won't save it a 2nd time.
From what i've heard from my "inside sources" (yes, we placed bugs in the nuts!) heh, the rumors are that CBS has allowed the producers to shop Jericho to other outlets, and that if it does not do well enough for a 3rd season pickup on CBS, it may be picked up by a cable entitiy.
I'm hoping it does well enough to continue on CBS, I'm dissapointed that we didn't get a full 2nd season, since it should never have been canceled in the first place, but i'll take the 7 eps, and go from there.

Creative and clever idea with the nuts though.
