While Slashdotting I saw this:
When asked about the next season of Battlestar, Olmos had this to say, “This will probably be the most extraordinary season of Battlestar, it’s the final season so, it’s definitely going to be the most vicious.”
IESB: Final?
Olmos: You heard it first.
IESB: Are you serious?
Olmos: Very much so.
Sigh :(

Worf
That sounds like fun, Starbuck playing in "the bionic woman," the remake of the old 70s show. :D
Assuming they have the telemovie in as part of the rotation (and why not?), BSG will end up having 79 episodes.
(Just like Star Trek. Freaky)
 :p
Here's hoping for not having another half a season of filler, too.

Anything has to be better than Voyager... getting home in the last 30 seconds after seven seasons. What the frack was that!?
After the dismal ratings failure of the stand alones/fillers I think they have learned their lesson. Scifi tried to be a bit overzelous this last season in attracting new viewers hoping the show would be a break out. I think they fell for the classic network mentality that new people stay away from strong story driven episodes since viewers will be too lost to bother watching. They figure the stand alones will attract more casual viewers which just doesn't happen. Instead of trying to attract more viewers they need to worry about holding their existing base, which means keep people interested enough in the story to not drop out. We can thank the episode"Taking a Bread From all Your Worries" for pretty much saving the show. Not only was it one of the strongest episodes ever, the final ratings for that episode were a 2.5. That means it blew away the season opener and almost tied the Season 1 and 2 premieres. It was enough to make up for the slump that followed. Its pretty obvious what viewers want to see.
No. You don't. Seriously, you really, really don't. It was done and it was terrible. It even had Nazis.
unfortunately that's not how it happened.
Point taken. :D However, I have hope that RDM would write a little better than those poor, misguided souls of 1980.
I wonder if we'll get to see those too in the new show. I suppose it's going to be a question about money and if they can pen some of the budget to that effect in the SFX department. It depends also on how much time is spent on Earth once they get there.
I don't watch the American Sci Fi Channel but I get the impression they are going through an iffy patch. As has been said recent shows have either flopped or done poorly. I'm getting worried that there seems to be hardly any decent sci fi shows coming on air at the moment. I thought when BSG came back it would herald a new era of shows but it hasn't really happened.
I think that Battlestar Galactica: Earth 2000 The Return Home will have to recieve a blessing from the Space Pope before going into production.
Case in point: the last episode of S2. Big cliffhanger that came out of nowhere in the last 15 minutes, causing major changes in the story that are almost all neatly cleaned up within 6 episodes of S3.
