Strategic Level B5 games?

Greetings All,

I just registerd here and I have greatly enjoyed many posts on the various forums here, and now I would like to add my own.

My questions are not strictly about the B5 TV episodes, but it is about playing a game set in the B5 universe. I was hoping people here (which are very vocal) could help me out. So far I have recieved few responces on the Yahoo and Google forums I posted to.

Does anyone here know of any strategic level B5 games ( PBEM, Card, Board,
other)? By strategic level I mean one at which the player controls a whole
empire, as apposed to tactical ( B5W or GROPOS ) or squad/individual level ( B5 RPG)?

I already know about the CCG, B5W and B5 RPGs sources.

I already am playing in such a game ( FOTS B5) and enjoy it very much, and
I would like to run something like that myself in the near future.

I have seen two defunct online PBEM games that are strategic level and I am
looking for anything that might help me to put together something similar
using the FOTS rules () and the B5W source materials from AOG (),and set the game just before the EA-Diligar war ( in 2030).

I need to acquire information about the industrial capacity ( factories,
shipyards, transportation hubs), military capacity ( ships, bases, training
faculties) and political relationships in this era to get started. Any
ideas?

Also, I plan on getting the ( BW-103 THE DILGAR INVASION ) book soon, anyone
here have it that can give me a short review on it?

Thanks in advance for any help,
George

There is the B5 card game, I know that much.
Also, check out the Paraworlds game thingy. It's a strategy game based on B5. Someone will post a link soon.

Oh yes, and welcome to our community!

Welcome! You have good luck! Welcomed by two admins before those puny mortals...errr...members who inhabit the forums!

    I would check out http://www.paraworlds.com
It's a site I am completely unable to view, for some unknown reason, but one which most others are.

    Welcome to the boards.
Play Homeworld. There's a wide range of strategy mods to choose from.

    Welcome!

Poke your nose over at mods.firstones.com . You will see stuff over there. There really isn't much right now. There are (5?) mods for the RTS game homeworld. Most things are flight sims. You could always write your own game! Hey Biggles, will your game be moddable?

Um, where is this PBEM game? I would be curious to check it out. I used to run one, but there was a lack of interest and a lack of time on my part, so it was shut down. Anything I can help you with, just ask.

Thanks for the welcome. I will try to post during the weekend on some topics that interest me here.

I do know about the card game, but it is not what I am looking for. I also checked out the Paraworlds site, and I wish the Development team luck in containing work in the near future.

The game I am currently playing is a B5/B5W based ( not 100% exact) PBEM wargame in where the player gets to run a whole nation of the B5 universe. Its a bit complex to describe, but let me say its very fun.

Thanks, must be my lucky day! I check the site out, looks interesting to say the least.

I have, while fun, its not what I am looking for as described in my previous post.

Did check, but as above, not what I am looking for.

The games core rules (free) can be found at: http://www.fireonthesuns.com

The actual FOTS B5 game can be found at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FOTS_B5

What kind of game did you create and run, Id be interested in learning more.

As for what I need help with, its basically the same things I mentioned in my opening post. Things like:

1- Need a map of each nation/empire known to exist in 2230.

2- Need to establish their military, economic and political powers at that time.

3- Need to establish each nations industrial production capabilities ( factories, shipyards, industries) , economic capabilities ( Homeworld, colony and outpost production + trade deals), military strength (unit designs, fleet composition , strength and deployment, Officer corps ranks, organization and deployment, unit Experiance levels, training and recruiting facilities, repair and shipyards for fleet and ground forces, etc) and political treaties ( who knows who, and what are their relations).
    Little details like that. (G)

Some of it I can infer from my B5W 2ed Rules Compendium , B5W 2ed Ships of the Fleet and GROPOS books. The rest would be info I can get from B5 related websites on the net, referances from the TV show and related books, games, merchandise and other things I just have to take a wild arse guess. But that's half the fun of creating such a PBEM game in the first place.

Thanks every one for the replies so far,
    George

Hey, post when you like on what you like! All we ask is that you follow the forum rules. And believe me, if you think the site is interesting wait till you've been around these forums for a few days.
Oh, here's a tip: When you post a message, click on the link "*UBB Code is ON" on the left of the text box. You will find many of the tags useful, especially the quote one. That does things like this:

It's so much easier than typing out a line of hyphens all the time. Plus there is a button at the top of each post that will automatically quote that post in your reply.

croxis: I'm going for a heavily script based engine, with the aim of it being customisable to any kind of game, with the amount of work to customise it being dependant on the type of game.

I ran a game very similar to the one you are in. Everybody started out with a certain race and they were allowed to build up there empires and construct forces.

I dont know if there is one. I was unable to find one, so I fudged up a list of planet names. Send me an email if you would like them (I will post it at the bottom).

I have all of this info. If you need it, send me an email. Would you like a co-GM? I could get you hosted, do up a site, and do other tasks...

    My email is at rhett12@rhett12.freeservers.com

    Please let me know.
