It seems more like Subspace/Continuum than Wing Commander but maybe this will help pave the way for more games.

    That's not even a good space combat game, much less a good WC game. What is the point of having the combat take place in space if I am unable to maneuver on all axis? It just sounds like Descent without the maze element...

    i never actually played any of the wing commander games. with any luck this might open the door for some remakes :)

    I've played Prophecy, I still have it. I might try it out on my new comp one of these days.

    Prophecy is one of the weakest games in the series, 3 and 4 get might vote as the best.

    Ahh... I think I'd play Wing 1 to this day should it work without any hassle. Great game. Easy, but great. Privateer rocks too. And Wing 2 was something fantastic back in the day...

    Never played #4 and didn't like the way the game went with WC3 and the videos... Although I have to admit that Hobbes & the Kilrahti were done veeeery nicely and Lynn was cute. ^^

    It certainly doesn't sound like a return of Wing Commander in any way, shape or form other than a cheap ripoff.

    Man this brings back memories. Played 3 and 4 myself. Great fun. Would be great to go back an revisit it again but doesn't look promising at all. Probably go the way the film went which was a real shame.

    I've been rereading some of the Wing Commander novels recently, they're well worth getting. Especially End Run and Fleet Action, though False Colors and the novelisations of WC3 and 4 are worthwhile as well.

    i still think wing commander IV was the pinnacle of video games. It had it all, story, intrigue, action, interactivity. God, I must've replayed that thing 20 times. I'd play it now if it ran well on xp.

    Pitty, The link seems to be down for the moment. Though but what is being said I'm not sure I want to see it.

    I absolutely love Wing Commander. Prophecy is the second weakest in the seiries, with Secret Ops being worse than that.

    I still play them all from time to time, including the 4 expansions for the first two games. The Kilrathi Saga editions still work reasonably well in XP, and includes a patch for 4 for win compatibility, though I got the DVD edition off Ebay a couple of years ago. That took some tweaking to get it to run without Creative's mpeg2 card, but it was well worth it.

    The story to 4 is certainly the most intricate, and I've played it more than any of the others, but I think it crossed the line into movie more than game. Half of your final fate wasn't even decided in mision, but through an elaborate interactive movie sequence.
