[B]#1. No mentioning the name of a certain female starfleet captain. This is a bannable offense.

Just curious? Why can't we mention Captain So and So or should I call her Captain Regulations?I know that this site is for B5 but still?
#5 is a bit overboard but small animated sigs could be allowed?I have made a couple of animated sigs for another forum that are 115k to 167k and I don't mind using them even though my connection is only dial-up @ 52k connection.
U\l speed is about 4kb/s
D\L speed is about 5.5kb/s

We don't allow animated sigs largely because I simply don't find anything about them to be worthwhile. Personally, I don't even like any images in sigs, but a compromise was settled upon when the mod forums were consolidated into this one.
Personally, I see no reason at all that anyone should want or need an animated signature. We already have avatars to identify who you are, so a signature image is just redundant. On top of that, many inline images get quite distracting after only a short time.
I'm a big fan of minimalism. I don't like things being any more complex looking than they have to be, and wasted space always irritates me. In my eyes, images serving no purpose to a thread are exactly that. And it may be only a small image on its own, but once everyone else gets them, the size of stuff needing to be downloaded rapidly increases.
And I just plain don't like 'em. :p

And I pretty much agree with Sanfam. :) Consider why firefox extensions such as adblock and flash-click-to-play are so popular. Also consider what purpose that image in your signature serves, maxdamage, given that you have an identical image in your avatar. ;)
I also have a theory that the quality of information exchanged on a forum is inversely proportional to the size and number of pictures in the signatures and the complexity of the forum layout.
I've scene it several times, some of the best, most informative sites have a simple, clean layout and limit the size of sigs.
as a dialup user in dailup hell, I really appreciate the sig limitations.
On other forums it always irks me when you see a one or two line post, and 8 lines of sig.
Secondly as a fairly tight nit community, most vanity tags are uncessary, we know who you are, we know what your about, we know where you were at 11:15pm on the 27th.. oh yes, we know. The tags are surperfluous you cant BS us into thinking how cool people are via sigs, we will make those determinations for ourselves.
That and the powers that be, both here and on #firstones are bloody tyrants. I mean some psycho op banned all of canada from the channel... TWICE. Damn nutjob..

Oh, don't worry, Refa. We don't watch you. Not anymore. Not after our eyes started bleeding.

The pic in the sig is hotlinked to my HW2 mod that uses the logo!
I read the whole page that had the info about the reason behind not mentioning that Captain and remembered that I have the Sierra B5 game trailer on my second hdd and I have the ad for it in a 1999 local gaming mag as well.

I have a couple game magizines with Into the Fire stuff. One has a full page review of it, and another has just a little thing with some pictures. I also have a tiny ad from some magizine or something that a friend gave me, with that same box art, but tiny.

Remember what the MPAA says: Horrific, deplorable violence is OK as long as it doesn't contain any naughty words!
That pretty much sums up America's strange view on what is and is not acceptable.

The small scale bukkake?
The "hose" game?
Devouring of the new life?
The 'nt burning?
Or was it the baby oil massacre?
