Ant writes "Entertainment Weekly is reporting on the end of Firefly." From the article: "Alas, Whedon's fond memories are also tainted by Serenity's status as a franchise nonstarter; despite Universal's best marketing efforts, the film only mustered $25 million. 'In the end, it was what it was: a tough sell,' says Whedon, adding that it appears the Firefly saga has reached its conclusion. He has no regrets -- and he's moving on."
Whedon was quoted out of context!
What he said is, now, after Serenity, he has some kind of closure that he didn't have after the abrupt cancelation of Firefly. If given the opportunity, he'd love to go back and do more, he still has lots of stories to tell in the Firefly 'verse.
Use MORE THAN ONE SOURCE for your news. People not realizing that this is a stupid misquote are all over the net posting in hundreds (if not thousands) of blogs that JW has given up on Firefly etc, which, if you've read any of the 10 other interviews he's given in the last few days, you'd know is bs.
But now I'm happy :) :)
At the current rate, it seems quite likely, as the fans of the show are quite often middle and higher income groups willing to purchase multiple editions of a DVD release.
All right, now I have to jump in and set the record straight. EW is a fine rag, but they do take things out of context. Obviously when I said I had 'closure', what I meant was "I hate Serenity, I hated Firefly, I think my fans are stupid and Nathan Fillion smells like turnips." But EW's always got to put some weird negative spin on it. But so we're clear once and for all: If you read a quote saying "I'd love to do more in this 'verse with these actors in any medium" all I'm saying is that Nathan has a turnipy odor. It's not his fault, he doesn't eat a lot of them but everyone else in the cast noticed it and tht's not really something I'm prepared to deal with any more. And Jewel said outright she wouldn't do scenes with him except stuff like the SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER funeral scene which was outside in a high SPOILER wind. So if I do manage to find another incarnation for my beloved creation, it will have been totally against my will.
I hope that clears everything up. Oh, and when I say I want to do a Spike movie, it means I have a bunion on my toe.

actually, it's not his weblog. It's a weblog that covers news of buffy, angel, firefly, etc. related stuff, and joss does sometimes post in the comments there...
Liked the series....
LOVED the movie!!!!
Never had a chance to see it in the theaters, too busy moving 1100 miles to Tampa. But WOW, its well worth the 15 bucks, probably the best movie I have seen this year.
Alot of answers to questions in the series.
Excellent!!
I'll probably get a copy for Christmas from somebody.....lol
I couldn't wait.
Well actually its nice having money, work kinda sucks, but money makes it easier to bear
So that's were that money went...

Give the film didn't do very well financially looks like the dvd sales will have the final say. Given the success of Firefly's dvd sales they should be good. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
