Thats extremely cool, it was the same technique (in broad terms) used for deep space photography!

Aye, that earns me' respect and then some. Absolutely beautiful.

I've never been interested in Russia much, but the sheer inspirational value of these made me want to see the whole shebang. I'd even be willing to pay an entry fee (PayPal, Credit card) to see the whole array of the photos on a website.

Notice how clear and crisp the air is, looks like a rendered scene of Naboo...

Can't really find places and days in our time with that kind of beauty.

    :)

Russia is very pretty nowadays too, I was there only a month ago.. :)
  • There's something about seeing images/footage from the World wars in colour that makes the conflicts and those portrayed so much more real. I was brought up watching documentaries like "The Great War" and "The World at War" which exclusively used monochrome photographs and film. (As I'm sure we all were, at least at school.)

My jaw practically hit the floor when I first watched "The First World War in Colour" when it came on TV a couple of years back.

Feel free to donate whatever entry fee you had in mind to FirstOnes for the next donation drive :)

Utterly fascinating. Its hard in my mind's eye to envision the past without seeing it in black and white. To see it in color somehow makes it more real.

Yarr! That's what I meant. I went through all those and would like to see more. :) The text stated that the man snapped over 200 photos with this technique, so these can't be all of 'em? They've probably picked the best of the lot for that site, but there are most probably others left as well. Now where would we be able to see those? ;)

I'd like to see some much higher resolution scans of the plates (and the combined results), as well.
