    Yes, of course, an elegantly simple solution.

    just have to have a really strong spring to get the cable to coil up properly when you've finished, I know mine always gives up on the last 10% or so and having 25000 miles of cable dangling out of your cleaner would be untidy

    well, you need to modify the existing vacuum-cleaner design, but not too extensively...
    just add an air-source that blows the dust into the vacuum-cleaner...
