...at least I finally got one! \o/ Might be hype over nothing, but damn I'm glad I got rid of my old tube. :D

I bought a 17" BenQ FP71G with a 12ms response time. You can still see some very slight residual images in sharp image movements and 'spin-blurs' but more than adequate speed for gaming. Painkiller & jDoom run fine, and they're about as fast ast FPS' come. And damn, the picture is sharp when compared to the basic tube. :) I've used quite a lot of TFT's in the past but the difference never hit me so well before I saw my own wallpaper with this thing. :p
Anyhoo, I thought it was finally time to grab one of these. Got it at what I think is a fair price too: 281 USD. Brand new, out of the box and no dead pixels or flaws to be seen.
I have my slight distaste for BenQ as a brand, mostly due to what I've heard about the quality of the components they use, but I'm giving it a fair shot. 3-year on-site replacement warranty and all so I don't think there's much to lose.
With my luck, I'm probably here tomorrow, griping about how it fried after two days of use. :D

I got the black one cuz it is better for the rest of my furniture.. black on black type of thing.
It's got two speakers as well, but havent had use for those yet..
Anyway.. It works a charm. Never noticed any bad things from it. Tried Max Payne 2 and Painkiller and all that, but never had any crap in the image quality.
I dont know where my old screen is.. I think I'll check it out tomorrow, and then I'll crash it hard! I'll kill it! I'll effin' pulverise that damn piece of s**** machine.. :)
Oh yea.. another good thing from these flat screens.. Leaves a lot of room for all kinds of junk on your desk.

Damn, you get these things a lot cheaper in the US than we do here in Europe, at least according to activeshopper.com. :p
In Finland, the lowest price for this model is 285 USD + postage.

Wow how far prices can drop in a year. I bought the exact same model you've got with a black casing, for about $700 CAN last year. Price is $400 CAN now.. least I know I didn't get ripped off. Gratz on the new monitor
Quite happy with it! ;)
and is the response TrTf or average grey to grey?
So far, at least in games, I haven't found any need whatsoever to use a bigger res than that. I can understand 1600x1200 when you have a 24" wide-flatscreen, but not before that. ;)

Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost when you bought it? O_o

Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost when you bought it? O_o
It took three orderers to bargain the price from 1298e down to exactly 1100 euros per unit in April (in the States at the time about $800 with coupons!). The current price in Finland for a single customer is 1182e, which is still much too high... Dell tends to overcharge on everything.
And yes, I love this monitor, despite the fact you can't play most of the fast fps games.
However I switched back to my high end mitsubishi CRT when the replacement to the one that went kablewie showed up.
The big trinitrons are very crispy :D
