I'm quite fine with naming it Xena! ;)

no, no no no, thats just wrong...

i can do with naming the planet xena, im sure there are other meanings for it, but naming the moon gabriel???

what next? planet joey? with moons chandler and monica?

If we can name planets and moons after ancient mythology, why can't we name them after *modern* mythology?

Planet Kirk with moons Picard, Sisko, and that Voyager Captain :p
• "scientists can calculate how heavy Xena is."

I always thought she was a bit chubby, but calling in scientists? :D
• I thought the planet was named Sedna.
• BekennBekenn Sinclair's Duck
Sedna's actually a completely different chunk of rock.
• I thought they said that the tenth planet in our solar system was Sedna, but this says that Xena is the tenth planet. Did I miss something?

Sedna, discovered last year, was determined not to qualify as a planet and was relegated to a planetoid, and is something like half the size of Pluto. Xena became the 10th planet earlier this year and is larger than Pluto.

The tenth planet hasn't really been decided on yet. Since Sedna isn't an *official* tenth planet as of this point...yeah. It's still pushing the definition of planet a bit. Kuiper belt objects and large more-or-less orbiting debris are (in my opinion, at least) just too small to be of any significance.

I still say make it simple.

Anything with it's own moon should qualify...

:p

That's still silly, because many of the Kuiper Belt objects have moons. It's part of the nature of objects to clusteraround, orbit, or crash into one another.

I'm sure it wasn't means to be terribly serious, but with that logic, we'd be quite likely to find hundreds of potential new "planets" as imaging systems advance to the point of being able to precisely measure the region. I really hate waiting for this part ;)

What about Mercury then, Jack? It doesn't have a moon :D
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Nor does Venus, for that matter.
