never watched firefly...

OK, I've never watched an episode of firefly, but the Serinity trailers have me quite interested in it.

So, I can already assume it is worth watching, but will I need to watch firefly before I see Serinity?

    Yes, you reeeaaally should, especially to get to know the characters etc. And if not for Serenity, do it for the fact that this is truly one of the best shows around (imo).

    So got to wait for the finnish R2 dvd's... hoping that they'd have them translated like they had on tv.

    Definately a great show. Probably my second favorite sci-fi show. I'm curious to see how much of the story they have to retell in the movie for ppl who've never seen the series. The promo looked like they put a bit of effort into it... not sure if I like the composer being different from the series as the music really added, but we'll see how it turns out!

    I think you'll be more optimistic after you've heard them...

    oh and A#, if you are going to watch the show, and after the pilot you're not sure if you like it, watch one or two more episodes.

    One of my favourite (more or less standalone) episodes is Ariel (a mission: impossible like episode). I'm also quite fond of The Train Job (though there're quite a few people who don't like it).
    Bushwacked is more in the realm of mystery/horror and Out of Gas is a "slow" drama, where you find out how the crew got together...

    A link posted by "Worker Caste" at the JMSnews.com forums. I only browsed a few entries but it doesn't look that obscene to me.

    I'm interested in watching the Firefly movie (even if I never watched the series, and I can't afford the DVDs) but I doubt it will be in the theaters where I am (a mid-sized city in México, where Hitchhiker's Guide has not been shown.:( )

    PLEASE TELL ME THE SHOW ANSWERS THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS!!!

    What was Book really? Will they be able to help River? What are the blue/white coller guys really?

    This movie better be so popular they bring the series back...it was very very good. I hate seeing the end of a good series. (B5, Gargoyles, Touching Evil, Rurouni Kenshin...)

    The movie does not reveal anything about Book's past.

    The movie DOES reveal more about River. You won't be disappointed there.

    The Blue Hands are not in the movie. But really, they weren't that important, anyway.

    Only watched what they've shown on Sci fi, and I likes it a lot.


    My favorite moment so far has to be the end of the train-job episode, whoever's seen it will know.

    That was just so utterly badass and unexpected.

    It seems that they are just lackeys who were part of the larger entity that was looking for River. They aren't the ones in charge.

    Hope you watched in the "correct" order and not according to the DVD-order, makes a lot of difference...

    The DVDs are in the correct order. Fox did to Firefly what TNT did to Crusade, the suits took the series and aired it out of order and also created a new pilot show because the origonal didn't have enough action.

    To be fair, Fox didn't "create" a new pilot episode. Joss Whedon and Tim Minear wrote a new pilot episode (over the course of a single weekend!) after Fox asked them to do so. Fox wanted a more "action-packed" intro to the series.

    Edit No.2: Ok, just wiped everything of that I said in the beginning of this reply, the DVDs turned out to be in correct order, shame on me who saw them before I bought the DVD and thought the order was wrong there too.
