Hey, now, that's a small issue in my mind; no way is it as bad as the Spoiler: Cylon virus sequence from last episode. Besides, now we get to see what Spoiler: Jeremiah would be like on Caprica!
• MundaneMundane Elite Ranger
No idea how to do the spoiler thingie....

[Admin Edit: like this]
Another virus...this time Stargate Atlantis.......I found it strange that the hangar doors opened when they left the Daedalus to shoot the AI controlled fighter...I thought they were already opened.

Also I suppose that they could have safely shut down and restarted the computers without problems when the AI controlled ship was too close to the star, causing interference stopping the virus from accessing the Daedalus.

Regarding BG, they could have done as in one of the Babylon 5 episodes where Lennier replaced the gasoline engine in Garibaldis bike with a "modern" one.
• BSG is still the best program on television, and the best Sci Fi since B5 went off the air.

And if they continue with this quality it will surpass our beloved little tale.

I will now proceed to hide under my coffe table les a PPG blast strike me dead.

Yeah, heh, that was sad too...

I guess it is inevitable that some crap like this will get into a good show, B5 was no exception...

Spoiler:
I don't see what the big deal is, the ending did not ruin the episode for me at all.

First, to clear things up, that was a humvee, not a hummer. Humvee is a military vehicle, hummer is civilian.

Second, I'm not convinced the humvee ran on gasoline. It sounded like it, sure, but knowing Starbuck, she'd go for that sound anyway even if the power was generated by alternate means.

Call me crazy, but I just don't see Starbuck driving an eco-friendly vehicle just to be politically correct - that would be way too out of character for her. She'd drive an `in-your-face-attitude' car regardless of what others think about it.

Keep in mind that this episode served to emphasize that she basically lost nothing from the Cylon attack, since she had nothing left to lose to begin with - the man she loved is dead (which she feels responsible for), she has no close family, no great big house. All she has is fighting. IMHO, part of the message of the episode was that Starbuck fights not just because that's all she has, but also because it's something she can win - because she feels her life is a battle she has already lost. This also explains her actions when abandoning Galactica - perhaps finding the arrow, and finding Earth, would give her a new chance at `life' since she's been dead, figuratively speaking, for a long time.

Anyway, as for the car propulsion, what's more likely is that:
1) Car runs on something else but sounds like gas-powered.
2) Car runs on gasoline or some synth equivalent, but polution is no longer a problem with advanced technology.
3) Car runs on gasoline, it's still a pollutant, but Starbuck does not care.

Somehow I found this weeks episode of Stargate SG-1 excellent, there was a nice atmosphere to it....
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Something I noticed: Spoiler: The humvee had a Canadian Licence plate.

SG1 was better this week, somehow I felt like I was watching Farscape, not SG1 last week.

Yes I do like Farscape but its a different show, when I watch SG1, I want to see SG1.

Worf
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
Actually, the humvee has a "Delphi" Licenseplate:

Spoiler: Oh of course, for the shows sake the car will run on something else if the subject ever comes up. But WE know it sounds like a gas powered car so it kinda feels silly. They should have at least changed the sound a bit exactly like how they did in B5 with the alternately powered motorcycle.
I don't think that was Starbucks personal vehicle either. Most likely just a base vehicle that she used to get around and was left at her place at the time of the attack. I don't think Starbuck would paint cammo on her personal ride.
• FreejackFreejack Jake the Not-so-Wise
Spoiler: I took that truck to be a rough old antique (hence the spray paint, etc), that was Starbuck's own personal vehicle, given the truck seemed to be a reflection of her personality.

So, did anyone think it sounded familiar when the Asgard aboard the Daedalus spoke/mumbled? Well, this is how it sounds played backwards:

Spoiler: Its not her personal vehicle. In the S1 episode where they have the backflashes of Starbuck meeting Adama for the very first time in some military base you clearly see several of them moving around showing its obviously the standard military utility vehicle.

As stated in my post above, It's not likely to revert because it was a marketing decision for the Scifi Channel, but it will be present on all syndicated forms.
Only noticed your post about that after I made mine. Doh. Anyway I think its a crap decision. Feel like emailing them and tellin em what I think. The theme of a show like this is very important, gives it a feel and an atmosphere. Well we know that anyway. But I suppose a couple more extra stupid crappy adverts are more important from a revenue stand point. But then I don't see those adverts so guess I can't complain... until Sky get it. Actually Channel 5 are airing Atlantis here in the UK now. Surprised Sky didn't get their grubby mits on it.

I thought I read something from the Stargate people that said they made full-length versions of the credits for the DVDs and sydicated airings. I'm curious to see what they look like, myself.

I really freaking want to see the S9 SG-1 credits. Scifi should at least make them downloadable... *cough*
• MundaneMundane Elite Ranger
In SG-1, why is RDA talking...so....slow..ly...some....times?
He irritates me...

the general consensus is that O'Neill has taken a number of "Retarded Pills." There's no other way around it.

Example: "I'm Hungry."

He also seemed to be just forced in for the sake of being there. It was incredibly unnecessary.

Spoiler: So yeah. I'm not taking too kindly to this new season of SG-1. It's painful. It's just not working at all. Ugh! The end. I want the creators to devote all of their time to Atlantis now. It's got tons of promise. I love it. GO ATLANTIS. MORE! BETTER! Get crackin'.

I miss him and his funny lines...
• Agreed. O'Neill's deadpan humor was one of the better parts of the show.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
yes. Though the writers seemed to have transferred that over to Lt. Col. Sheppard where it seems to work, actually.

i dunno, i thought it was quite a good reply to Daniel's admission of being scared. but yeah, the whole thing did seem forced and pointless, like they'd run out of material and were killing time.

i never thought id say this, but i kinda wish they had just ended SG-1 now, and just run with Atlantis. i always thought it would be the other way round. i can only hope it gets better as the season goes on, but at the moment im really missing 'the old days' of Hammond, O'Neill and the Goa'uld.:(

Jack, you need some whuppin' if you think that episode was mediocre. That one completely blew me away.

Re: the original Apollo... yeah, you definitely need to see season 1 if you don't know who his character is. Go to Best Buy and get it and the mini, or wait until September so you can buy the US version of season 1, which will include the mini and commentaries.

Or, y'know, find... ahem... other means....

I think s9 of SG1 is still feeling its way. I too felt that O'Neill's bit was very forced. Hell he looked like he didn't want to be there, had a "lets get this shoot over with" look on his face. Its hard to know if Browder can fill his shoes. Problem is if he gets to wise crackey he just comes across as Crichton and any minute now Rigel and Scorpious are gonna come through the Stargate... As for these religious nuts, I thought they were creepy, especially with that silent staring thing. Obviously with Carter missing at the moment it feels like their a member short so I guess we'll see.

I think Atlantis is going along nicely. But I'm a bit concerned about the easy push off of the Wraith. Hopw it doesn't turn in to the X-Files with the real important stuff happening at the beginning, middle and end of a season.

As for BSG I'm more curious this season about whats going on. I found the 1st season ok, but wasn't that excited about it. I think its improved a lot now.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Spoiler space is useless now. Just assume you'll be spoiled as necessary.

I'm suspecting it'll be a bit more like SG-1. Remember that the big advantage these people have is that they didn't think like the ancients. This was a race of beings who, in the end, took a nearly passive approach to life. The attacks of the wraith were quite strong, and they certainly were technologically advanced, but they did not have the motivation, or more importantly the actuall will to use it the way modern humans will. Their semi-pacifism just wouldn't allow it to happen. The humans, on the other hand, certainly don't mind risking their lives in going out and trying use this advanced technology to directly take on the wraith threat. I'm suspecting it'll be a close war, but they've got the willpower, and with one ZPM, they're only two shy of having the power. There's a lot of interesting possibilities in that city. Just think of the Antarctica outpost, and how it was just a landing pad of sorts. Imagine what a whole city could do?

Hot damn, I'm in a typey-wordy mood today :D

Well there is was. It was Crashdown. I kinda saw it comming too but that was a surprise to see Baltar be the one to shoot him from the back. He was kinda annoying anyway. I thought this was one of the most intense episodes so far. I can't wait to see whats going to happen once Adama wakes up and sees the mess Tigh has stirred up.

Jack, you need to see S1. Richard Hatch is a regular guest star in the show.
