Well this stinks! It ends just like the game. It is starting to feel as though there is some enitity who is stopping anything to do with what we want too see. We should identify who is stopping these projects.
To bad there isn't a way us B5 fans could advertly mess with WB's profit margins, but here is too many movie buffs out there to even put a dent into one of their pockets.

Oh, and Time Warner has earned money with that.
Why are we buying this DVD 's ? I think not, to close the B5 Universum. I 've thought it should open the B 5 Universum, for what ever,
Now I see, great Company 's are making money with Fans. And the Fans are supporting Products ( with the Money of us Fans ) cause the Products are nice. But than, if the Company 's have made the money, the Fan is earning nothing.
So, what is now to do ?
I don 't know that. I only can say I am very disapointed about this Development.
They are thinking, they are wanting to do a "Big Budget - Movie ". Oh, in the history there was a big Budget Movie you all know that Movie as " Star Trek The Motion Picture ". As Paramount produced that Movie it should be a "Big Budget - Movie", too. And it was a Big Budget Movie. But it wasn 't Star Trek, or that, what Star Trek in the Series was. It was a Special Effects - Film.
So is the question: Was that the goal of Warner Brothers ? A Special Effects - Film ?
If that 's the case, then it 's better, that Warner Brother don 't earn any money with a film in the B 5 Universum.
At the other Side, I see:
If they wan 't to do a Big Budget Film, that 's really simple. They should pay the actors more money, should pay for the Special Effects more money, should pay the Composer more money, and WOW we have a Big Budget Production.
I hate Warner Brothers for them Decision, not to do the Movie.

That's the great irony of the situation. The criteria told to us right
up front while we were producing B5 was that each of the series on PTEN
had to show a profit *in that year* in order to stay on the air and be
renewed. So we'd have these meetings with studio heads who were
congratulating us on how much money the show was making for them
(again, while we were still making for it), and then look at me,
realize what they'd said, and hurriedly add, "Though technically we're
still in the red."
The show, all in, cost about $110 million to make. Each year of its
original run, we know it showed a profit because they TOLD us so. And
in one case, they actually showed us the figures. It's now been on the
air worldwide for ten years. There's been merchandise, syndication,
cable, books, you name it. The DVDs grossed roughly half a BILLION
dollars (and that was just after they put out S5, without all of the S5
sales in).
So what does my last profit statement say? We're $80 million in the
red.
Basically, by the terms of my contract, if a set on a WB movie burns
down in Botswana, they can charge it against B5's profits.
But then again, I knew that was the situation going in...I saw the
writing on the wall (and the contract) from the git-go. I didn't do
this to build an empire, I wanted to tell this story...and that's worth
more than anything else.
I'm also one of those that doesn't really get what just happened. I mean, we've been told all these months that the project was well on its way, that JMS even had an office with Babylon 5 written on it somewhere in England and that there were a few issues concerning the cast and now all of a sudden someone just pulled the plug?!
I guess there must have been something fishy about it all along. Projects that are truely on track don't have to be hyped before they are close to release. Since we don't know all the details it's hard to be mad at anyone in particular, but the studios are as always the usual suspects.
I'm just glad JMS was able to make those B5 TV movies and I'd rather see a few more of those if a feature film is so hard to get done. I just saw A Call To Arms and it surely was great to see the show again with updated SFX.
As I've stated before, I'd be just grateful to see another chapter of this saga regardless of the format. It's disappointing, yes, but as JMS said, the entire show was an uphill battle and look what has been achieved.

My own feeling is that, after all that's gone on, best to let it rest
for a year or two, then see what happens. Gearing up for sometehing
like this takes a lot of time, energy and visceral material, and when
something like this happens, it's best to just take a breather for a

to turn my attention to them.
I hate to say this but it is possable the script or screenplay was not a winner and maybe even JMS relized it. Why make a movie you do not feel comfortable about. At least he met some deadlines and made some commision.
Where did you get that pic of the cast flipping the bird and more importantly, have you got a hi res version?. I soooo want that for my work desktop wallpaper.

I'm a little confused, who is this other company? I don't really recall hearing much about them before the cancellation. From all I read I got the impression it was mainly WB providing funding etc.
I bought that pic from Richard Biggs at GenCon in 2001 and scanned it in for my friends here at FO. Yes, that's his autograph on it just above him.
The photoshoot was going badly that day, long hours and too hot in the costumes. Tempers were a bit high, thus the pic.
