I'm thinking of hosting the holy grail of B5 Music/Movies...
All season titles, both season 2 versions, 320KB/s mp3s, .avi for video.
Season 4 DVD suite, music (320kb/s) and .avi
Anywhere to host such large files? The suite is 15.1 MB :P

"No Hiding Place"
"Remember"
That other song that singer lover of Franklin sang.
Bar Fight Scene
G'Kar's Season 3 Ending Monolouge.
Correct me if I'm wrong or I didn't read his statement right.
How do you think this would violate copyright laws? Are you new to the internet? There is a billion Farscape / Buffy / Angel music videos and competitions all over such as the Clam shell awards.
DKF295 all the power to you. I think it would be great to see some videos.
There is no such thing as copyright laws on products that are not for sale and no profit is to be gained. Now if you are making videos to sell then yes that would be illegal.
I believe there is a clear interpretation between the both?
;)
If the material is no longer sold anywhere, and impossible to acquire via more correct means... it might be safe to host in conventional (non-anonymous) ways. Technically, it might still violate law. Practically, you would not be actively hurting anyone's business. (But someone might still sue.)
If however the material is being actively distributed by the copyright owner (offering it freely would undercut their business)... you can expect that only inability to trace you... would reliably prevent them from notably complicating your life.
One should try avoiding that. Not only because it's technically illegal... but also because in most cases, it's practically not polite.
In practise of course, such material is still distributed. Merely via sufficiently anonymous P2P networks, where tracing the source of material is more expensive than the optimality model of copyright enforcement supports.

For clarification about fair use:
It is my opinion that "fair use" is widely considered to apply to: 1) backup in case the original media is destroyed 2) limited extracts and quotations 3) derivatives if they qualify as parody 4) some other things, but not distributing the whole work without license from the copyright holder.
How is this illegal? Isn't this fair use?
It's as fair use as your neighbor using your driveway to park his car.
If you want to support Babylon 5, buy the DVD's, don't distribute copyrighted material illegally.

The existence of the internet, and the fact that it happens on it does not make it legal.
Copyright laws are just what they are called, "Copy Right"...
If the author of material doesn't want his/her/its work reproduced, modified, etc that is their call. Profit and/or sale have nothing to do with it.
Yes it sucks, but that's the way it is (by the law).
DFK295... Do what you will, but at the very least you are walking a fine line if you do not have an agreement/contract/etc for distribution with WB and/or Sonic Images.
therefore i think anything that might affect that would be a bad idea
Very Strange
How did one's suggestion of making music videos that would not be for sale go to this?

Perhaps he should rephrase what he actually wants to do. We can give him the benefit of the doubt, but it sure sounds like he wants to distribute copyrighted material since what he's talking about must be taken out of the show which is available on DVD.
Anyway, now that TMOS is dead in the water, this is a moot point.
