A# failed to mention that his T1 is shared by the rest of the complex :D

No doubt a complex full of people all trying to get the best possible speed leeching stuff. :D
• entire complex being 1, yes ONE, other PC geek that will use bandwidth, and a number of regular browsers only. :D

One...just one. I'll believe it when I see it. I've noticed in my time in dorms that the non-PC-geeks tend to use more bandwidth less responsibly then the PC geeks!

I'm with RC on this one.

It's amazing how much bandwidth an average computer user can churn through with "general browsing" when they discover they arn't on a dialup connection anymore.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Take my sisters, for example. Within a single day, they'll download *at least* 4gb of movie trailers, music videos, and music/movies...
•
music videos, and music/movies
Do those really classify as "Regular browsing"?
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Yes. they do. They'll watch them in a corner of the screen. And from what I can tell, they're not alone in this. Many of my youngest sister's friends do the same, and I'm sure it applies to Karen, as well.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Even my parents will just watch some random video clip on the internet occasionally, without thinking about how much bandwidth it will take. Regular browsing is not just "I check my email and maybe read the front page of CNN" anymore.

Great! Motion passed. :)
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Yeah! Sometimes my sister and brother use more bandwidth than me because they watch all these news videos, game trailers, send pictures with e-mail etc. etc. I really don't use as much bandwidth as when they are online, but I'm online much more. :)

everyone lives right upto and often just beyond thier income in terms of money

people adopt the same approach to bandwidth. As soon as they go from 56K to any sort of BBand thier habits change, they go chasing bigger files and more of them until they start bouncing off the new bandwidth ceiling/cap

clear ?

Or worse, as people move up to Broadband, and get faster speed, they want MORE. 1.5 mbits wasn't enough for me, now i've got 3mbits, and someitmes i'm downloading something and think, man this is going SLOW, i need FASTER.

of course, most of the time, when that happens, i remember downloading things from bbs's on my switchable 110/300bps modem, that usually keeps me from complaining too much.

WOo and i just noticed, POst #2000 i think i shall bake a cake. watch out biggles i'm catching up to you, at this rate, in the year 2261...
• RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Very nice, yea I tend to agree that "average" broadband users will download shit just to see it, and do it far too often.
• I wanna see "it".

I get 4.5mbps, and I can't stand using a friend's 2mbps connection.
• All you happy slops with big bad internet connections....

25 hours to download TBP 3.0 and thats letting the cpu run CONSTANTLY....

I'm lucky to get 3.0 kbps max download speed...otherwise its 2.7....

Then thanks to 5 decade old phone lines...get 24 or 26.4 out of 56k....why would 2mbps be slow?

I'd be immensely happy just to have even HALF my modem as a download speed....
