Firstones lasts forever!
Hi, This is probably a brief and pointless post...but I like those best:
I'm Hazard, I was one of the web designers at the now long dead Starfury.org site (I did the Narn, Minbari & Earth Alliance sites if anyone remembers).
First of all I would like to say congratulations to Firstones.com for staying alive and supporting the game and the series for so long. It's an incredible acheivement, and does B5 proud.
It amazes me that this game was cancelled 5 years ago! It also amazes me that in this time, another attempt hasn't been made by some franchise to even develop a new Babylon 5 game if ITF and it's code and materials cannot be used anymore (age if anything!)
I'm a massive fan of the Babylon 5 series. It is definately the best science fiction series in history. I don't think Crusade maybe had long enough to catch my interest, and to be honest, I've found the movies less interesting - specifically the Legend of the Rangers.
I'm glad to hear that there is a new movie concept underway, but based on past film efforts I'm not so optimistic. It can't be a good sign that this film has already rocketed off with anger over casting issues. I'll stand proudly with the Bruce Boxleitner can only play Sheridan crowd, but in the end - I'm not sure a one off decent movie will really add much value to the depth of the Babylon 5 series.
I would have liked J Michael Straczynski to perhaps focus on what he appears to have done best - full circle perfect story telling - to a depth that has never been done before on TV.
I know in the current climate, TV series are hard to get commissioned, but even a string of short films/mini-series like would be preferable to a throwaway perhaps poor quality movie. Unless this turns out to be Babylon 5's "The Motion Picture", I'd love for my pessimism to be flawed. Even then, there was no way anyone else was going to play Kirk!
Science fiction TV has been mostly poor since Babylon 5 was gone. Weird, overly fantastical series - though sometimes with an element of charm, but cheap sets and poor ripped off storylines like Andromeda, Stargate SG-1, Atlantis etc. just never go away. Along with the barely entertaining Voyager & Enterprise Star Trek shows.
I believe I've found an excellent sci-fi series to fill the void left - it's not as good yet, but shows much promise - in the remade Battlestar Galactica series (sorry, I haven't read the whole forum to see if you've slated it or loved it yet, I'm aware it's not been shown in America yet).
Here's to Babylon 5 making a triumphant return with this movie!
Here's to all you lot for sticking with Firstones and fighting for Into the Fire!
Here's to Firstones easily outlasting Starfury - dunno how that went wrong...
Oh, and - happy new year!
My new years wish - will some company make us a Babylon 5 game!
(Star Wars fairs better in the legacy of the Dark Forces & X-Wing Fighter games, than the continuance it receives from these naff prequel movies!)
Take care, have fun.

That was answered a few years ago and is coming to fruition now in the form of Babylon 5: I Found Her (B5:IFH).
While not a bonafied JMS driven game project, it is just as professional, and is indeed fun to play.
Check it out... And welcome back! ;)
May 2005 bring us what we need, even if we don't get what we want...
Cheers!
The site started off with loads of content, which resulted in fans of the game and others continuing to come back for more. When the game died, and most related content faded away, the fans and this wonderful forum kept the site live. Without the community - there would be no FirstOnes.com.
Of course, there are a few who actually contribute and run the site, which personally I am very thankful to, but I am sure even they agree: it is the community that has kept this site live for so long (since 14-Jul-97 - which makes it now 7.5 years!, though it did start off as a Starcraft guild lol. It was re-launched again for Sierra’s B5 game mid-June 98)
Take care
Lorien
P.S. I am watching Crusade lately on DVD (never seen it before, as it was never shown here).. and think it is light years away from B5 unfortunately.
I mean, non-b5 stuff. Say, the starcraft parts? :D
:D Sanfams got a plan...
