Doing the right thing, by following your heart...doing what feels RIGHT to you, not because it's something that will get you fame, glory, power....but because it needs to be done, and you have the power to do it.

possibly futile, but very human.
• hmmm... an interesting question...
Really depends upon which episode you look at, each one seems to have an overall message behind it. Here's my thoughts:

"Faith manages".
Form communities. We're better as a group, rather than alone.
The only enemy is fear itself.
"All love is unrequented" / "no it's not".
Both the forces of good and evil are ultimately wrong.
And, last of all, the really, really important one: "Ivonova is God".

Be knowledgeable.
Think for yourself.
Be willing to question authority.
And then have the courage to stand up for what you think is right, especially if you are serving something greater than yourself.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Be yourself.

Different people can do much together no matter how different.

Question the way everyone else is thinking.

• I think the ultimate message is to LIVE FREE OR DIE.

Be wary of the intentions of others regarding you individual freedoms, even if they claim/seem to have your best interests in mind, or the "common goods", they may try to manipulate and rule you. Others being your friends, allies, the government etc.

E.g. Nightwatch (big brother government), President Clark (totalitarian leaders), Mars, the Vorlons (not what they portrayed themselves to be), the Minbari casts (out for themselves), the Narn and Centari conflict.

The alliance promised not to interfere, effect, or change the business of other worlds and their cultures. That was the point, and they didn't.

(IMHO)

And be willing to do this alone and with the possibility that no one will know of your accomplishments...

You see, i think what you really are afraid of is me. Me and my kind, the Brotherhood of Mutants. Oh, it's not so suprising really, mankind has always feared what it doesnt understand. Well, dont fear god senator, and certainly dont fear me... not anymore."

Don't trust anyone called President Clark or Morden.

Actually, I think it is to stand up for what you believe in, and believe that you can make a difference.

That freedom is worth fighting for and the threat of loosing it can unite people more than anything else.

That there are people who will do anything to control others and alot of people are afraid to do anything about them.

Dont pretend to be better than you really are, just be yourself and let the universe decide.

Well I guess thats 3 msgs but thats what I feel. I grew up with B5, I started watching when I was 10 and it helped influence who I am now. Normally I would say that wasnt good, but with B5 I think its different.

• A friend told me about "his" ideas about the connection of us to the universe. After some thinking, I was astounded how much sense many pieces of the B5 story make (in connection with this idea).

I won't preach to you ... only one thing that is *so obvious*:

"The universe puts us in places where we can learn. They are never easy places, but they are right. Wherever we are, it's the right place .. and the right time. Pain that sometimes comes is part of the process of constantly being born."

The principles of the alliance...without doubt I think

------------------
"Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future .. and it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future .. or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope .. that there can always be new beginnings .. even for people like us."
