Music of Babylon 5 *Updated*

This is what I recieved fron Adam.
I've Cut'n'Pasted here cause theres a lot of info.

Today is the day! It's been 6 months, but I said it was coming eventually.
So check out the big update to The Music of Babylon 5!

The music most requested by you over the last 6 months has been to hear
more tracks from the combat simulator game, "Into the Fire". So they are
here finally! 6 tracks of battle sequences from the Sierra Babylon 5 game
that has since been cancelled. Chris Franke has a different sound in these
tracks than his usual scores. They are much more orchestral and
fast-paced. Boy, it would have been fun to play a game to this music.

I've also gotten countless requests for more Crusade music. So, a suite
titled "War Zone" is now available. As the title suggests, it's various
battle and high-tension scores mixed into one 13 minute suite. It samples
all sorts of different Evan Chen sounds that we've either come to love or
hate.

Another track from the Crusade album is also online: "Elizabeth", which is
a track that really stands out from the rest of the CD. It is a beautiful
piano piece that reminds us of Galen's sorrow in "The Well of Forever" in
losing his beloved Elizabeth.

Something else that I've gotten a few comments and suggestions on in the
past were about my "Variations On A Theme" mix that I created last year.
For those who are new to my site, this is a 13 minute track which mixes
all 5 seasons of the Babylon 5 theme into one huge suite. Linking the
themes are some of the best scores from different episodes. People loved
it, but a few things here and there needed improvement. So, joining this
update is a NEW version of that track. While it is 75% the same, there are
some great improvements that make the 13MB file worth the second download.
Firstly, there is a new opening which is much smoother, and it fades into
the instrumental, extended season 1 main titles this time, instead of the
original version with narration which some people thought didn't fit since
the rest of the track was instrumental. I agreed! Also, some of the
linking music has changed, including a beautiful piece from Sleeping In
Light that leads perfectly into the season 5 main titles. For those of you
who don't want to download this big track again, please reconsider! It's
now the "way it was meant to be seen" (to borrow from George Lucas).

Finally, there is one last track new to the site today. A "rock" version
of the Babylon 5 theme, composed by Neil Norman (of Star Trek fame). While
it's not at all spectacular, I felt it at least deserved a spot on my
site. Thanks goes to my good friend, TJ, who got a hold of this track for
us!

There's always been 6 battle sequence tracks plus 3 other tracks, bringing the total to 9.

You've got the main title twice (Normal and extended versions) The Preview track, and Battle sequence A to F.

So if there's now an extra track, wouldn't it be a 7th battle sequence?

Her name was Isabelle, not Elizabeth. Elizabeth is Gidion's girl.
  • Like i said I just cut'n'pasted the e-mail.
I just thought it would be nice for some of the newer members of firstones to take a look.
otherwise they wouldn't no about it!!!
  • SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
    no. There's a battle sequence G, IIRC.
Marcus, you beat me to this
    Either way, it's all good!

Link is broken... for me at least.
  • David of MacDavid of Mac Elite Ranger Ca
It's not broken. When you have a site that hasn't been updated since january, and have a mailing list telling people when it's updated, and people have had a chance to sign up during a year and a half of static, well, it taxs a web sever. It sould be useable in a day or two.
  • RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
    Ok. Thanks.

Did Adam get permission to host/post the music, or is it yet another piracy site?

He most likely got permission. It's a very well known site, and he's on good terms with CF.
  • BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I hope he has got permission.
And it is good to see that the battle sequences will get good publicity now.

Great, now I'll finally get to hear them all. I wonder where those images on the links for the battle sequences are from though.
Babylon 5: Into the Fire is primed to take full advantage of the Athlon, AMD's new performance desktop processor.
Two months before the public release of the Athlon, the Babylon 5 team was experiencing up to 70% increases in game speed with the processor during in-house tests. These results came without any modification to the original program. The Athlon'sy stability and speed continue to impress the development team, which unfortunately perpetuates the debate of who gets the Athlon this week.

According to co-designer and lead programmer Dan Foy, the Athlon's floating point speed and 3D Now instruction set allows the current the Babylon 5 game engine to deliver an unprecedented level of game detail without sacrificing smooth frame rates vital to the gameplay experience. "Now the biggest bottleneck is in the limitations of the video card" says Foy.

The link for the site still doesn't work. Is it going to be back up soon? I'd love to grab those music clips.

all you have to do is richg click and choose "save as"
from there, it takes about a minute to show the destination dialogue. Once that appears, it is lightning fast.
